Island Escapade: We love the sun, sand & sea!

Hello I’m back! I went on a short getaway to Redang over the weekend. This photo was taken as our ferry was approaching the island. It was definitely very comforting to see cloudy blue skies and crystal clear waters! πŸ™‚

We love taking self-shots! Clockwise from top left: At the MRT station, on the coach, at Shahbandar jetty, on the ferry! πŸ™‚

The bus journey took about 8 hours and it was around 7am when we reached Shahbandar jetty. Super early la!

The earliest ferry would only set off at 9am, so we sat around and chatted since none of the shops were open that early. Here’s a group shot! It’s my first time travelling with such a big group. All of them are Chewy Charles’ friends from NTU πŸ™‚

After such a long long journey, we have finally reached Redang! Yipeeeee!

Checking in at Redang Beach Resort for our two-night stay!

Our third visit to Redang. First time with each other! Awesomeeeeee! <3

Sunshine boy so cuteeeee! πŸ˜€

Whoohoo! Snorkelling time! All of us were really excited!

Our first time snorkelling together! πŸ˜€

We had fun with the underwater shots! No fishes here because we went closer to the shore just for this πŸ˜›

Hehehe underwater self-shot! πŸ˜›

Water is very clear right? Looks like swimming pool but it’s not!

After a day of snorkelling, all of us were famished!

Chilling out by the sea after dinner! Chewy Charles is a huge fan of Tiger beer πŸ˜›

And that’s all for Day One of our trip! πŸ™‚

No hangover la. We look tired because we need like at least 10 hours of sleep a day. Haha!

I’m really not kidding about the sleepy part! Chewy Charles immediately plonked himself onto the hammock the moment he caught sight of it.

Managed to drag him out of the hammock and we took a stroll along the beach πŸ™‚

Jumpshot! Yippeeeeee! πŸ˜›

Haha Chewy Charles looks like he’s taking off! Whoohoo!

We joined the rest for a game of volleyball and guess what happened? The ball ended up on the tree!

We had two snorkelling trips scheduled on Day Two. We looked really happy yeah? πŸ˜€

marine park

It was a short boat ride from our resort to the Marine Park! Psst.. We smuggled bread from the resort cafeteria so that we could feed the fishes! πŸ˜›

Okay okay.. Fishes, fishes and more fishes! I was so afraid that the fishes would swim into my life jacket or shorts! I think some of the guys got bitten!

We had some time to kill after lunch since the next snorkelling trip was not going to take place until 2.30pm. Yup we brought Sally & John with us! πŸ™‚

No trip to Redang is complete without stopping by More More Tea Inn <3 We bought some souvenirs and had ice cream!

last snorkelling stop

sea cucumber

The black stuff looks gross doesn’t it? It’s actually sea cucumber! Yummy! Hahaha! I think Chewy Charles almost cried when I tried swimming towards him with the sea cucumber. Really funny! πŸ˜›

I find that More More Tea Inn actually looks nicer at night with all the lightings.

Almost laughed out loud when I reviewed the photos. We didnt agree on the same facial expression prior to taking this photo!

You are the love of my life πŸ™‚

The boys gathered for a photo too! Not a case of Bromance I hope?! Haha!

My heart skips a beat each time I see this. Oh how I miss diving! I didnt dive this time because I had just recovered from fever that week πŸ™ Plus, I would be missing out on the awesome company if I went diving alone! πŸ™‚

Time to bid goodbye to Redang! We had breakfast at the resort and departed via ferry at 6.30am.

Now, this is bad. I’m beginning to miss the sun, sand and sea! I have my eye of Nikoi Island! I first got to know about this place when I picked up a dive magazine at a local bookstore. Nikoi is a 15-hectare island located about 8km off the east coast of Bintan Island in Indonesia.

What’s so special about Nikoi? It’s one of the most stunning islands! Just look at this photo! I could lie there all day long sipping Tiger beer! πŸ˜›

Being a scuba diver has taught me a lot about being more sensitive to our environment. Conservation and consideration of environmental issues have been a priority in the formulation of the overall development strategy for Nikoi. I’m won over already!

  1. I read about the nikoi island on another blog too. wonder if it’s a cheap getaway. so much advert, bound to shoot the prices up!

and low yee ling! u look uber shot in the bikini mirror shot! *blow whistle*

    • Haha ummm if i’m not mistaken, it’s about $700+ for a 3d2n stay per person! I saw photos and all; it’s a really very beautiful place! Feels very private and exclusive too! Haha u mean short or hot?! πŸ˜›

    • Hi there, haha nope! We paid out for this trip out of our own pockets πŸ™‚ I received the invitation when I came back from my trip. Very timely huh? πŸ˜€

  2. Shiok! Love in Redang with a group of sunshine boys and girls πŸ™‚ Good luck for your blogger’s contest and win yourself a trip to Nikoi island.

  3. Awwww ~ looks fun! and u look rather tanned already after all the time spent under the sun~ hahaha!!

other than Nikoi, you may wanna try also going to Perhentian!

i heard from some friends that it is also very nice there πŸ˜€

    • Yeah it was really fun! I wanna go back again! Haha actually i’m already quite tanned except for my face cuz i always wear a cap when playing tennis πŸ˜› Yeah but i got slightly darker after the trip. Zzz. I heard alot of Perhentian and Layang Layang actually! Very nice dive sites there. Can consider in future πŸ˜€

  4. i’ve been seeing the tiger beer ads all over singapore! it’s a very good deal because you’re right about nikoi island not being a cheap place at all. It’s really expensive but i guess, gonna pay for the exclusivity right?

anyway, redang looks fun! My bf and I might be taking up diving sometime in August and if possible, I wanna choose Redang to take the final practical exam! Simply stunning… great 1st experience lol.

    • Yup i totally agree with u πŸ™‚ Nikoi looks like a really beautiful place and I’m afraid a 3d2n stay is definitely not enough! But anyway, Redang IS fun! Well, minus the arduous coach + ferry journey. Yeah i guess it’s possible to take your open water dives at Redang. You just need to make the necessary arrangements with your preferred dive company. Have fun! πŸ˜€
