The Chewys’ Europe Honeymoon Trip: Days 20 & 21 in London/Big Ben, Borough Market, Three Michelin Stars Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Home Sweet Home

London

YO chewys! Apologies for the slow update. Really exhausted after work and just nua-ed when I got home. Sacrificing my weekend to update you guys on our laaast two days in London! Ok la I also wanted to avoid the haze so I stayed at home then shunbian blog lor ๐Ÿ˜› Our Europe honeymoon travelogue has come to an end, after 14 blog posts (including this one) like finallyyy! Ok la, almost. It will end when you finish reading this post. We went to so many places on Day 20 which was the unofficial last day of our trip because we had to head to the airport immediately upon checking out the next day. The feeling was not nice at all and I couldn’t bear to leave London because it was an awfully short two full days there! :( The hubby promised that he will plan a trip to Europe again. (But duno when hor, sweetheart? I know you are reading this. LOL)

IMG_6263

We passed by so many phone booths but I wanted to take a photo with it only on our last sightseeing day!

IMG_6272

Big Ben! OMG, I can’t believe I walked along the same path as Jay Chou did when he was filming his “Big Ben” MV! Speaking of the King of Mandopop, I might be posting some photos and videos that we took during his recent world tour! ๐Ÿ˜€

Our visit to Borough Market was a quick one but we liked what we saw! It is London’s most renowned food market and is rich in culinary history. Taste and quality of food is not compromised here, and standards are regularly measured.

We weren’t planning to do any cooking on our last night in London so we only bought chocolate fudge to munch on throughout the day and also a small bottle of white truffle oil to bring back to Singapore. McD fries with truffle oil, anyone? XD

_MG_6388

Whoever said London Bridge is falling down deserves a good spanking. Hahaha.

_MG_6379

_MG_6417

_MG_6420

_MG_6425

The moment we decided to include London as one of our honeymoon destinations, I was very excited because I so wanted to visit Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, a three Michelin stars restaurant owned by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay!

_MG_6457

We made our reservations early and mentally prepared ourselves that this was gonna be our most lavish and extravagant meal for this trip! ๐Ÿ˜›

_MG_6430

There were a few set lunches for us to choose from. Can’t remember what they were titled but misterchewy had the more expensive one. Haha.

_MG_6434

After some warm and crusty bread, we were served our Amuse Bouche which was Ricotta infused with mint, pea foam, sliced radish, tomato, rocket oil and violets. The ricotta had a subtle minty flavor and the pea foam was light and airy. The greens provided an nice contrasting texture to the dish. On the overall, it was kinda like eating a savory mousse cake.

_MG_6438

For my starter, I chose Chicken liver, foie gras and bone marrow crouton with artichoke, heriage apples, Perigord truffle vinaigrette mainly because of the foie gras. Liked how the chicken liver and foie gras was done while the flavors of this dish were accentuated by the truffle vinaigrette. However, I found the crouton too hard.

_MG_6452-horz

The husband had Pressed foie gras, smoked and confit duck with Tasmanian mountain pepper, pickled pears and pain dโ€™รฉpices.

_MG_6460

_MG_6471

I had a choice of fish, rabbit or duck for my mains and I settled for Roasted rabbit loin with Bayonne ham, confit leg, Puy lentils, roasted hazelnuts and pickled mustard seed because I really wanted to try something different. I wouldn’t say that I particularly enjoyed this dish although the rabbit loin was quite tender. The combination of mustard and hazelnut didn’t work quite well for me I guess.

_MG_6473

I could tell that misterchewy enjoyed his Costwold lamb and spring vegetable “Navarin,” best end, braised shank, confit breast and shoulder with wild and new season garlic. Alright, I know it’s a mouthful. Simply put, he ate various parts of the lamb and he gave two thumbs up.

_MG_6484-horz

_MG_6475

Pre-dessert drink! Can’t remember (my memory is really bad) what fruits were used but it was a very delicious drink and we slurped this up in no time.

_MG_6486

_MG_6488

_MG_6496

This photo of misterchewy’s Coconut soufflรฉ with mandarin and lime sorbet was taken by him. Must give credit ๐Ÿ˜› It was one amazing dessert! The coconut soufflรฉ was warm, light and fragrant while the tangy sorbet balanced out the sweetness in a subtle way.

_MG_6499

My Banana parfait, peanut butter mousse and bitter chocolate sandwich with caramelised bananas was equally awesome! It was a tad heavy and sweet but I loved it.

_MG_6506

When I returned to our table from the washroom, our Petit Four was all ready to be devoured. It certainly looked delicate and exquisite.

_MG_6510

The White chocolate and strawberry ice cream truffles actually made a dramatic appearance when it was served with dry ice. Basically, the strawberry ice cream truffles were encased in white chocolate. Biting into these babies made me explode with happiness!

_MG_6461

Our gastronomical experience at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay lasted for about two hours. It could have been longer if we ate even slower I think. Total damage inclusive of wine was around SGD $400. No regrets at all! :)

IMG_6515

After lunch, we went to the Natural History Museum and admission was free. The queue was very long and there was another queue for the dinosaur exhibition.

IMG_6518

IMG_6522

IMG_6531

_MG_6553

The husband was fascinated by what he saw but I wasn’t. Haha. So I offered to help him take photos.

IMG_6554

IMG_6557

IMG_6561

_MG_6565

IMG_6568

We almost forgot about Platform 3/4 at King’s Cross Railway Station! *GASP* We took quite some time to locate this and there was already a long queue of Harry Potter fans waiting to take photos. We were free to borrow Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin scarves!

IMG_6571

Hahaha of course we chose Gryffindor! ๐Ÿ˜›

IMG_6573

The queue was waaaay longer than this! I almost wanted to give up but Harry Potter fan girl persevered.

IMG_6574

Charleen kindly gave us some recommendations on where to go and what to eat in London. Burger & Lobster was somewhere misterchewy and I really wanted to try BUT we were not fated to eat there! First night, we missed our train and didn’t have time for dinner before Jersey Boys. Second night, we reached around 7pm after the Harry Potter studio tour and were told that we had to wait at least 2 hours!

IMG_6575

And on our very last night, Burger & Lobster was closed for Easter weekend! FML! Sad like mad! D: D: D: We will eat at Burger & Lobster for 3 nights in a row the next time we go to London! Mark my words. LOL.

IMG_6595

We settled for Fish and Chips at this pub called Prince of Wales.

IMG_6590-horz

Can’t remember who had what but we ordered London Pride and Big Ben. Errrr.. I think I still prefer Erdinger and Kronenbourg ๐Ÿ˜›

IMG_6599

Very sad! Checked out the next morning and took the tube to the airport lo. We tried to do tax refund for one of the items we bought but couldn’t do it in London. Quite complicated so I shall not attempt to explain here.

_MG_6611

Since we had hours before our flight, we had brunch to fill our empty stomachs!

The Chewys’ Europe Honeymoon Trip: Days 18 & 19 in London/Tower Bridge, Pollen Street Social & Harry Potter Studio Tour

London Days 18 & 19

If you notice, there is no Day 17 after my post on Disneyland Paris because that day, I was stuck in bed running a slight fever. The husband made a few trips from the hotel to get my medicine, lunch, Chanel bag (LOL) and finally, in the evening, I felt better and we went to buy another Chanel and had dinner. The next morning, we got macarons from Pierre Herme and Laduree before leaving Paris for London, our final stop for our honeymoon trip!

IMG_5940

Blame it on the super long queue at Galeries Lafayette’s Chanel store (yes I got more earrings) and we missed our train to London! Think we only missed by a couple of minutes because of the immigration officer? Was totally pissed off because he asked us many questions and wasted our time. It was very obvious that he was doing it on purpose. Had to wait for another 2 hours for the next train! >:(

_MG_5945

You have to get the Oyster card when you are in London! It makes travelling a whole lot cheaper.

IMG_5946

We were feeling thankful that London is one hour slower than the other countries that we visited earlier because this meant that we could still make it for Jersey Boys! I bought tickets online when we were still in Singapore. I actually felt very sad when we reached London because it meant that our honeymoon trip was coming to an end really really soon D:

IMG_6258

We booked all our accommodation via Agoda and were quite satisfied except for this one in London! The location stated is so near the train station but it’s actually an office to pick up the keys to the apartment! The husband had to drag our luggages for a good 20 minutes before reaching Neate House.

IMG_6256

To add fuel to the fire (yeah misterchewy was really pissed and he seldom loses his temper), we had to climb the stairs to our room.

IMG_6255

When we walked past the bathroom, we did not notice anything amiss because the doors were closed when we walked past.

IMG_6253

_MG_5961

I got a shock of my life when I realized that there’s no bathroom in our room! Argh. Overlooked that this is a shared bathroom accommodation! Horror of horrors! I hate the idea of sharing a bathroom with other strangers! The thought of having to do so for the next 3 nights certainly dampened my mood.

IMG_6577

We were kinda running out of time and took the tube to Leicester Square after putting down our stuff.

IMG_5948

One of the things that you must do when you are in London is to watch a musical in the West End! It’s really an experience not to be missed.

IMG_6588

IMG_6579

Our decision to watch Jersey Boys was a last minute one. We missed them when they were in Singapore and we were glad to catch them in London!

_MG_5949

_MG_5951

These are the only two photos that we took inside the theatre because photography is prohibited.

_MG_5957

A photo in front of Prince Edward theatre!

_MG_5971

Our dinner was macarons from Pierre Herme bought earlier in the day in Paris. It was really late and we skipped dinner because the walk back to our apartment from the train station would take us quite some time. And on our way back, we realized the streets were really dark! Kinda scary and creepy.

_MG_5987

If you think that our dinner was pathetic, you are so wrong lol. We were munching away happily like kids and finished all 7 within a matter of minutes.

IMG_5997

Day 19 was the third last day of our trip! We tried our best to make full use of our remaining two full days in London.

IMG_5996

IMG_6001

IMG_6004

_MG_6018

On the Tower Bridge!

_MG_6021

_MG_6023

IMG_6026

After a quick stroll (ok not a stroll anymore) along Tower Bridge, we took the tube to our lunch destination!

IMG_6029

_MG_6096

We were impressed by our dining experience at Pollen last July that we felt that the one Michelin starred Pollen Street Social warrants a visit! Of course we had a reservation :)

_MG_6090

_MG_6089

_MG_6056

_MG_6041

_MG_6043

_MG_6044

Colchester crab salad, pickled turnip, chilled crab cream, samphire.

_MG_6048

Slow cooked egg, “mushrooms on toast”, crispy wild cabbage.

_MG_6061

Roasted Cornish hake in red wine, broccoli stem, cockles, crispy quinoa, whipped artichoke.

_MG_6072

Muntjac deer, beetroot, red onions, puree potatoes, smoked beetroot juice.

_MG_6079

Pre-dessert palate cleanser.

_MG_6082

Rhubarb, basil ash meringue, chantilly cream, mint oil.

_MG_6086

Sorry I don’t have time and I’m too lazy to tell you how each dish tasted like. I’m sure you only wanna see photos anyway. LOL. But one word, “marvellous”. Ok misterchewy say one. Lololol. But really la, it was worth every pound.

_MG_6099

We will be back!

_MG_6101

Travelled to The Making of Harry Potter Warner Bros Studio Tour via the tube! It’s located at some faraway place, like quite ulu. Haha. We fell asleep on the tube! After lunch syndrome.. LOL. Had to take a shuttle bus when we reached the train station in order to get to the studio.

IMG_6245

If you are planning a trip to the studio, you need to purchase your tickets online as no tickets are being sold at the studio. There are various timings so make sure you choose wisely!

_MG_6105

We were quite early so we went into the souvenir shop!

_MG_6107

Hedwig! I think? Haha all animals look the same to me :X

_MG_6113

It’s really cool that wands are being sold too! We found Harry’s, Ron’s, Hermoine’s, Malfoy’s and even Voldemort’s! I think I was holding Harry’s wand. ๐Ÿ˜€

IMG_6243

Bought a box of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans and a mini Harry’s wand which doubles up as a pen for my brother. Some of the jelly bean flavors are quite gross. Don’t dare to try. Got booger, ear wax, vomit, dirt, earthworm, etc! Yucks!

_MG_6118

Soon, it was time for our tour! This was the first thing we saw when we were in the queue. Harry Potter’s small little room at 4 Privet Drive! The details were so amazing. We even spotted Harry’s spectacles! Ok la, if you are a Harry Potter fan, I don’t need to explain so much. Just enjoy the photos k! ๐Ÿ˜›

IMG_6194

The drink was really damn nice! Don’t know what exactly is it. Tastes kinda like an ice cream float without all that fizziness.

The Chewys’ Europe Honeymoon Trip: Day 16 in Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris

Oh yay! This post is a super duper happy one because it’s about our trip to Disneyland Paris! So far, I had visited Tokyo Disneyland with my family twice and also Hong Kong Disneyland with my university friends. Likewise for misterchewy who had also been to these two Disneylands before, so this means that we experienced the magic of our third Disneyland together, in the city of romance! :)

_MG_5740

That morning, I woke up with a pretty bad headache but I brushed it aside, thinking that I would feel better after a while. The train ride to Disneyland Paris took about an hour and I slept all the way. When I woke up, the pain was still quite unbearable, so I popped a couple of Panadol pills on an empty stomach because I did not have any appetite to eat. Paid โ‚ฌ79 per person for entry into Disneyland and Walt Disney Studio.

_MG_5597

This is why I love love love Disneyland! It really feels as though I’m being transported to a totally different and magical world upon stepping in.

_MG_5596

_MG_5726

Love walking along these streets in Disneyland! It never fails to excite me even after all these years! ๐Ÿ˜›

_MG_5736

IMG_5543

_MG_5550

IMG_5559

_MG_5580

I was keeping a lookout for Disney mascots roaming around but misterchewy was more keen on conquering as many thrill rides as possible. The Big Thunder Mountain queue was freaking long and I think we waited for about an hour. Friends would know that I’m not the most patient person on Earth. LOL.

_MG_5576

The ride was mild but it was kinda worth the wait, as compared to some of the other attractions in Disneyland. I reckon the Big Thunder Mountain is suitable for kids too!

_MG_5581

_MG_5587

_MG_5600

_MG_5605

_MG_5610

Before I could suggest anything else, misterchewy dragged me to the Space Mountain ride. We have tried the other Space Mountains before and loved it! It’s the most thrilling ride in Disneyland! ๐Ÿ˜€

_MG_5615

Needless to say, the queue was even much longer than the one for Big Thunder Mountain. Oh yeah, I mentioned earlier that I was having a headache right?!

_MG_5619

YES! Yours truly actually survived the crazy Space Mountain 360 degrees ride with a splitting headache! In fact, I had thought for a moment that my headache went away thanks to the ride. Haha!

_MG_5628

The Chewys accomplished Space Mountain Mission 2! ๐Ÿ˜‰

_MG_5621

_MG_5625

_MG_5632

_MG_5634

Next, we decided to check out the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride.

IMG_5636

_MG_5642

_MG_5645

My memory is really poor! Realized that I had experienced this same ride before in the other Disneylands!

_MG_5651

Basically, we were supposed to shoot down some aliens and stuff. Pretty lame but I suppose kids will love this.

_MG_5654

_MG_5661

When we were in Paris, my mum whatsapped misterchewy that I love churros and asked him to buy some for me in Disneyland. Sadly, I don’t think churros are being sold in Disneyland Paris. We didn’t see anyone else eating it so I settled for a crusty waffle with chocolate sauce! As I was still having a bad headache, I took more pills but apart from the headache, I was feeling quite nauseous because of taking Panadol on an empty stomach earlier in the day.

IMG_5668

_MG_5676

_MG_5679

Of all characters, Darth Vader was the first out of the handful of mascots that we saw in Disneyland, before the parade. Quite pathetic and I don’t even fancy Darth Vader or Star Wars. Mehhhhh. And the trend in Paris seems to be getting these autographs from these characters rather than taking photos with them. Kinda weird I would say. Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland were much more happening because of all the high profile characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, etc, walking around.

_MG_5681

Back view of the Disneyland castle.

_MG_5682

At this point, I felt really weak and wanted to throw up every now and then but since we came a long way and paid so much for the tickets, I tried to force a smile and take as many photos as I could for memory’s sake. You have no idea. LOL. Told misterchewy that I felt like an old granny because I was finding somewhere to sit and rest every 10 minutes.

_MG_5685

_MG_5691

_MG_5688

_MG_5693

_MG_5698

_MG_5700

I seriously have no idea what’s with the husband’s act cute expression. Really unlike him. LOL.

_MG_5707

_MG_5712

_MG_5713

_MG_5722

I kept complaining that I wanted to vomit and faint, to the point that misterchewy announced that it was time to head back. But of course, I refused and told him I wanted to stay for the parade.

_MG_5723

Since we had a bit of time to kill before the parade, we walked around Disneyland aimlessly and took more photos. It sucks to be sick. :(

_MG_5724

_MG_5728

_MG_5729

_MG_5731

_MG_5738

_MG_5764

The parade was scheduled to start at 5pm and about half an hour before that, the entire pavement was filled. Luckily, we managed to find somewhere to sit.

_MG_5751

This 3 year old boy named Zack kept talking to me and he asked me a lot of funny questions! We started talking because he held on to me to balance himself as he sat down and I gave him a surprised look. He then smiled cheekily at me. Awwww..

_MG_5752

_MG_5782

All photos of the parade were taken by misterchewy while I took some videos. Enjoy! ๐Ÿ˜€

The Chewys’ Europe Honeymoon Trip: Day 15 in Paris/The Louvre, Sainte Chapelle and Notre Dame

Paris Day 15

TGIF chewy chewy peeps! I can’t wait to finish blogging about our honeymoon trip because I have so much other stuff to share with you guys! Our second day in Paris was spent visting a museum and two churches. It’s not just any museum or church, mind you! Do you see the iconic triangle in the picture? ;P

_MG_5334

Yes it’s none other than the Louvre Museum or Musรฉe du Louvre if you wanna act yi ge French. Lololol. As you can see, the weather was kinda dark and gloomy in the morning, which made it perfect for indoor activities such as… visiting the museum!

_MG_5297

Bought tickets at โ‚ฌ11 each! Thank goodness there wasn’t any queue.

IMG_5298

The very first thing that we did once we were inside the Louvre was to check out the famous Mona Lisa painting by Leonardo Da Vinci! Sadly, we couldn’t get anywhere near it! There was a barrier and we could only admire it from a few metres away.

IMG_5302

The other visitors were all huddled in the other end of the room, trying to snap photographs of the Mona Lisa painting. Impossible to get a good shot, really.

IMG_5303

The husband told me that one of his colleagues bought tickets just to look at Mona Lisa and that was it but of course we were not that extreme.

IMG_5344

IMG_5349

My attention span was too short and I started yawning away so misterchewy suggested we end our museum tour ๐Ÿ˜›

_MG_5358

_MG_5368

_MG_5371

_MG_5445

We were totally starving but the husband insisted on joining the queue at Angelina. Singaporeans love to queue but so does everyone else. *Gasp*

_MG_5438

The interior of Angelina exudes elegance and charm.

_MG_5443

Reminds me of Canele and Antoinette. *Ahem*

_MG_5391

Here we have misterchewy pouring himself the best hot chocolate drink in the world. The Old-fashioned Hot Chocolate โ€œLโ€™Africainโ€ (โ‚ฌ7.90) is an Angelina classic and is unbelievably rich, thick and chocolatey.

_MG_5396

_MG_5399

Yours truly had the Omelette Angelina (โ‚ฌ16) which was expensive for just eggs, ham, cheese and mushrooms. Very yummy but not filling.

_MG_5394

_MG_5411

The husband went for the Seafood Risotto (โ‚ฌ26) which was not bad too!

_MG_5420

There was absolutely no way that we would leave without having their desserts! There were so many desserts that we wanted to try but we narrowed it down to just two. The Tarte Praline Chocolat (โ‚ฌ8.70) had a good mix of praline chocolate and chocolate ganache and had a nice crunch when bitten into.

_MG_5424

Once you step into Angelina, you must try their signature pastry, Le Mont-Blanc (โ‚ฌ8.80), other than their famous hot chocolate drink of course. For the benefit of those who don’t know what a mont blanc pastry is, it is made up of meringue, chantilly whipped cream and chestnut cream.

_MG_5433-horz

A pair of happy chewys! ๐Ÿ˜›

IMG_5484

Our next stop was Sainte Chapelle, where we had to pay โ‚ฌ17 for the both of us to get in. The most famous features of the chapel are the beautiful stained glass windows.

_MG_5458

IMG_5467

IMG_5470

IMG_5526

Skipped to Notre Dame Cathedral. Surprisingly, admission is free and not surprisingly, the queue was insanely long.

IMG_5492

IMG_5494

_MG_5505

_MG_5510

_MG_5536

Decided to call it a day and wanted to head back to our hotel but there was an anti-gay demonstration going on and many roads and metro stations were closed! We had to alight a few stations away and walked a long way back :( It was kinda scary because the available routes got lesser and we almost thought we wouldn’t be able to reach our hotel by nightfall.

_MG_5539

_MG_5541

We eventually did of course, and tabao-ed dinner nearby. Guess what our next post is about? Disneyland Paris! Must read! Stay tuned ok! I’m gonna have a blast this weekend! Jay Chou concert and staycation! Whoohoo! Stay connected with us on Facebook www.facebook.com/missuschewy and on Instagram @missuschewy and @misterchewy ๐Ÿ˜€

The Chewys’ Europe Honeymoon Trip: Day 14 in Paris/Arc de Triomphe & Eiffel Tower

paris day 14

Bonjour chewys! Hahaha I act yi ge French ๐Ÿ˜› If you realize a different format for our blog title (it’s usually country/city), that’s because Paris was the only city in France that we visited during our honeymoon trip. We spent 4 days in this city of romance but it was actually shorter than that because I was holed up in bed on the last day being down with fever.. *Sigh* Despite this, I am still a happy girl because we went to Disneyland Paris and I got my Chanel loot! *Squeals* ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

_MG_5021

You know, everyday during our trip, I would tell misterchewy, “Omg today is day X liao” and as the number got bigger, I became more depressed. Day 14 meant that we had only one more week to enjoy! On the morning of day 14, we checked out of our hotel in Switzerland. Bought tickets at the bus stop and waited for the bus. Actually, we could walk about 20 minutes but with our luggages in tow, we decided against it.

_MG_5022

_MG_5027

This is Zurich Hauptbahnhof, otherwise known as Zurich HB, the largest railway station in Switzerland. It is also one of the busiest railway stations in the world, serving almost 3000 trains each day.

_MG_5029

Have you heard of this phrase, “as punctual as a Swiss train”? They are indeed very very punctual, so be sure to arrive early so that you don’t miss you train!

_MG_5034

This train is different from the ones we took previously during our trip because it is a double-decker train and the seats are a lot more comfier! We were seated on the higher level ๐Ÿ˜€

_MG_5041

_MG_5052

After a 4-hour train ride, we checked into Hotel Astrid Paris. I highly recommend it for its superb location. Walking distance to Arc de Triomphe and the metro station! :)

_MG_5054

IMG_5059

I wasn’t kidding when I said Arc de Triomphe was very near. We walked there but we took longer than expected to actually reach there because you can’t just cross the road to get to Arc de Triomphe. We had to go by some underground path and there were so many exits, we ended up at the wrong places many times!

_MG_5071

I was pretty pissed by then because there was no escalator, only stairs and boy, I hate climbing the stairs. So we finally decided to seek directions from the people working at the metro station. Should have asked earlier right? Lol.

_MG_5063

Admission to Arc de Triomphe costs โ‚ฌ8 per adult and the queue was well-contained underground.

_MG_5129

The Arc de Triomphe was built to honour soldiers who fought selflessly and died for France in the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars.

_MG_5130

The inner and outer surfaces of the Arc de Triomphe are inscribed with the names of all French victories and generals.

_MG_5099

_MG_5101

Spotted Eiffel Tower in the distance! It looked quite close because we zoomed in quite a bit ๐Ÿ˜›

_MG_5111

_MG_5163

Yes, Eiffel Tower was where we were headed for next! Do you know that it’s the tallest structure in Paris? And while we were there, we had to take many many photos! We reached in the evening and stuck around till night to watch the tower light up :)

_MG_5200

_MG_5201

_MG_5218

_MG_5219

_MG_5227

We waited and waited, for what seemed like eternity and to our amazement, the tower finally lit up in a beautiful shade of gold. But this was not the best part!

_MG_5252

_MG_5258

Ok this is the best part! Video was taken off YouTube because the quality of ours is not fit for viewing lol. The Eiffel Tower sparkled when we were making our way to the train station! Very beautiful sight! You can fast forward to 0.54s in the video :)

_MG_5291

Dinner was at Leon de Bruxelles! Had been wanting to try it ever since my friend recommended it to me :) This photo was taken when we left. The queue was actually quite long when we were waiting for a table!

Yes, this place specializes in mussels and it’s served in various ways.

_MG_5283

The husband chose his mussels with cream and bacon which was delish!

The Chewys’ Europe Honeymoon Trip: Day 13 in Switzerland/Jungfraujoch

Jungfraujoch

Greetings my beloved chewys! This will be our last post on Switzerland! Hurray! Again, we booked a tour with Viator and this time to Jungfraujoch. This place is definitely a must-visit for any traveller planning a trip to Switzerland because it is the only way to experience being on top of Europe, at more than 4000m above sea level. No trip to Switzerland is ever complete without a trip to Jungfraujoch! ๐Ÿ˜‰

_MG_4769

I think we were given about 40 minutes to take photos, buy souvenirs and do whatever business that we had to do during our short stopover at Interlaken.

_MG_4773

_MG_4777

This shot totally cracked us up big time. It’s either I’m really too heavy or misterchewy couldn’t handle my weight. I also wanna add that I was carrying my bag which was quite heavy. Lololol.

_MG_4781

IMG_4784

On board the railway train! We had to take two different trains and we spent more than 2 hours travelling, which was really quite tiring.

IMG_4789

Enjoyed the beautiful views on the way up!

IMG_4806

Just look! Breathtaking or what!

IMG_4811

The husband commented that these houses look like gingerbread houses with cream on top. Hahaha ๐Ÿ˜›

IMG_4846

We alighted at Eigerwand railway station as we were given about 5 minutes to snap photos.

IMG_4837

Isn’t this mad pretty?! I could just stand there and look at this forever but of course we only had 5 minutes. LOLOLOL.

IMG_4847

IMG_4856

At Eismeer railway station.

IMG_4849

Eismeer translates to ‘sea of ice’. Gorgeous view of the glacier.

_MG_4866

We were disappointed that we were given only about a couple of hours on The Jungfrau! It is the third highest mountain of the Bernese Alps and it is very very steep. This photo was taken after we had our yummy lunch at the cafeteria! :) But this is not the highest point yet!

_MG_4859

_MG_4860

_MG_4874

Dont see us look like very steady like that.. We were totally freezing in the cold! The wind was blowing straight into our faces and we just couldnt wait to get back indoors!

_MG_4876

_MG_4877

_MG_4885

During our trip, we were crazy over buying snow globes to add to our small humble collection whenever it snowed and we were thrilled to see this ginormous thing! ๐Ÿ˜€

_MG_4932-horz

I posted this photo not for you to laugh at me hor, but to show you how freaking windy it was on the top of Jungfrau! I was like.. Ahhh my hair my hair!

_MG_4935

Mandatory shot with the Swiss flag! :) This is our only one without all the extra ppl behind us. LOL.

Thanks to a lovely Singaporean young couple who helped us with this shot! We started chatting happily and shared each other’s travel plans while on our journey back to Zurich :)

The Chewys’ Europe Honeymoon Trip: Day 12 in Switzerland/Zurich

Zurich

Hello chewys! Here’s a relatively shorter travelogue on day 12 of our honeymoon trip spent in Zurich, Switzerland. The husband booked a half day city tour, which we felt wasn’t really necessary. LOL. Waste money only. It’s not that difficult to navigate around Zurich, at least that’s what I feel cuz misterchewy’s sense of direction and navigations skills are quite good ๐Ÿ˜›

_MG_4618

As the city tour was scheduled to start only in the afternoon, we took a leisurely stroll from our hotel in search of breakfast before doing a bit of shopping.

_MG_4622

We walked damn far before spotting Bรคckerei Walter Buchmann! *Heaves a sigh of relief* The pastries were really good but mine was too sweet and misterchewy helped me finish it up. ๐Ÿ˜›

_MG_4668

Love shopping? You gotta stop by Bahnhofstrasse, one of the world’s most expensive and exclusive shopping avenues. You will find various luxury brands and also shops selling jewellery and watches.

_MG_4625

_MG_4628

_MG_4635

_MG_4641

Lake Zurich is behind me!

_MG_4634

_MG_4643

_MG_4648

Asked misterchewy to help me carry my bag while I adjust the camera on the tripod. Got the metrosexual look or not? LOL.

_MG_4654

We went into the Grossmรผnster, a Romanesque-style Protestant church and is one of the three major churches in Zurich. Photography is not allowed inside the church.

_MG_4657

_MG_4661

Looks like a piece of vandalism done by someone who was trying to be funny. It says, “Human Charger”. LOL.

_MG_4675

We walked to Sihlquai Bus Terminal for the afternoon city tour and our first stop was Zurich Harbour. Look closely, do you spot the word “Sentosa” anywhere in this photo? ๐Ÿ˜›

IMG_4684

Next, we took the cogwheel train!

IMG_4689

IMG_4690

_MG_4700

Passed by The Dolder Grand which is a 5 star luxury-class City Resort. The rates of a superior double room start from at least about SGD800 per night. We were told that many celebrities stay in this hotel. There were some female teenagers seen hiding in the lorry, apparently waiting to mob their idols. Haha.

_MG_4707

Back at Lake Zurich! Told you that we didn’t need the city tour ๐Ÿ˜›

_MG_4709

_MG_4711

_MG_4722

Ok to be fair, this experience of sailing across Lake Zurich was quite a novel one because cars, vans and coaches were also being ferried! The other tour members were also very excited and hurriedly got off the coach to snap photos.

IMG_4712

IMG_4715

IMG_4716

IMG_4719

_MG_4721

_MG_4723-horz

We continued to Adliswil for an aerial cable car ride to Felsenegg at 800m and the ride was quite steep. Someone asked the tour guide what if the cable car stops halfway, to which the tour guide replied, “Don’t worry it’s made in Switzerland” and everyone laughed albeit a little nervously. Hahaha.

_MG_4728-horz

_MG_4733

The tour ended and we scrambled to find somewhere to settle our dinner! Decided on Restaurant Swiss Chuchi because misterchewy wanted to eat cheese fondue and rosti ๐Ÿ˜€

_MG_4739

We chose to sit outdoors for that shiok factor eating hot cheese fondue in the cold!

_MG_4741

Ordered a cheese fondue, raclette rosti and two bottles of Erdinger! Our fondue contained wine. Really shiokkk! ๐Ÿ˜›

_MG_4742
