Headlines Hairdressing: Mucota Dyna Treatment Perm Review

Sponsored Review

I did something to my hair recently! Readers who have been following my blog would know that I have had long straight hair for years. Truth be told, I’m getting quite sick of my hair already. After our wedding photoshoot in late 2012, the hubs asked me a few times to perm my hair because he liked the “big waves” look on me. LOL. However, I was afraid that I would end up with small tight curls and look like lao auntie so I procrastinated for quite long. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to take a leap of faith because I wanted to look different (in a better way) as I turn a year older this week! Made an appointment with Charles of Headlines Hairdressing who previously did the Mucota Dyna Argan Oil Treatment for me. Look at my hair! Still amazingly smooth and silky! :) Charles helped to trim my hair first before working his magic!

This time, Charles recommended me the Mucota Dyna Perm Treatment. After getting my hair washed, Charles applied the Dyna treatment cream on my hair. If you have not read my previous post, Mucota is one of the top prestigious hair care products in Japan. Dyna is one of their many products which is the latest anti-frizz treatment technology and is 100% NO FORMALDEHYDE. It is suitable for all types of hair, and contains Argan oil which is the key ingredient in giving hair volume, making it smooth and silky. In other words, I was getting a nice hair treatment while my hair was been permed at the same time! Oh ya, my black roots were also touched up. How sweet! πŸ˜€

Twirling my hair before putting the curlers up!

Charles explained that as my face shape is round (SOB SOB), he only gave me curls that are below my chin level to avoid making my face look even rounder than it already is.

Another type of chemical was dripped over my hair to help the curls stay in shape.

This was how my hair looked like after the hair wash. The first thing I told misterchewy was, “Oh no! How come look like maggi mee?!” HAHAHA.

But heng ah! After blow drying my hair, it turned out wonderful! Loving my big bouncy curls! Price ranges from $280 to $350 depending on hair length. Quote “Charlene Missuschewy” and get at least 10% off all services and treatment! Thank you Charles and the Headlines Hairdressing team! Beauty Products Used to Achieve My Wedding Dinner Makeup Look

Hola ladies! We attended our cousin’s wedding at W Singapore late April and I managed to download the instant prints taken by the photographer. Today I’m gonna share a short post which is something a little different from my usual posts, and it’s about my wedding dinner makeup routine! Yayyyyy. Of course I’m no makeup guru but since I put in extra effort to doll myself up for a big occasion, it doesn’t hurt to share photos and the products I used right? πŸ˜›

Normally, my mum and I would head off to a salon that we have been visiting near our place for the lady boss to do our makeup and hair. The cost is actually quite reasonable. However, this time I decided to take matters into my own hands. Hahaha sounds so serious. But yeah, I have been reading up about various products and trying them out.

Like I said, I’m not a professional so I have yet to master making my non-existent nose bridge appear out of nowhere but I’m trying very hard. LOL. But I did learn a bit about contouring and stuff. Not easy!

Hahaha pardon the sleepy look. I lost count of the number of glasses of red wine I had that night. *Hic*

These were the products I used. In all honesty, I only use foundation, blusher, and eyeliner on normal days. Haha!

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Fiji
LA Girl Pro Concealors in Classic Ivory, Warm Sand and Cool Tan
Heroine Make Mineral Smooth Cover Powder in Light Biege
The Body Shop Nomadic Goddess Baked-to-Last Powder Bronzer in Warm Glow
The Body Shop All-in-One Cheek Color in Ginger
Ben Nye Luxury Visage Powder in Banana
The Body Shop Sparkler in Boudoir Pink

Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette
Heroine Make Eyeliner in Black

Lioele Artist Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Light Brown
Maybelline Fashion Brow Coloring Mascara in Dark Brown

The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain in Raspberry

Hello chewys! It’s 72 more days to Christmas! And now the question is: Have you been good this year? Haha. Well, it’s not too late to redeem yourself now! Will tell you how you can do so in just a bit πŸ˜‰ Anyway, Christmas came early for the Singapore beauty bloggers last Thursday, thanks to The Body Shop! We were invited to The Body Shop School Project event which was held at Skyve Wine Bistro. I took a cab from my workplace because it was pouring but the wet weather didn’t dampen my spirits :)

Soon, it was time for our Social Studies class, conducted by Headmistress Linda Black. The Body Shop has been supporting education for over 20 years. β€˜Giving Joy To Every Body’ is a campaign to bring the gift of education to the rural communities that produce Community Fair Trade loofahs, cocoa butter and other ingredients. This Christmas, The Body Shop Foundation will contribute S$ 400,000 from gift sales to build 5 schools for kids in Ghana, Honduras, Nepal and Northern and Southern India where regular kids and those with special needs have little access to education or have to walk as far as 5km to get to school. With education, their futures will be brighter when they are able to earn a regular income, which will also help to raise their self-esteem, build confidence, and increase their standard of living!

How can you help? Simple! By buying a gift from The Body Shop for those we love, we will also be buying the precious gift of education for those who could really use it!

During Home Economics class, our school prefect introduced us to The Body Shop’s Christmas seasonal special editions namely, Cranberry Joy, Vanilla Bliss and Ginger Sparkle.

This luscious line-up of bath, body and home fragrance treats containing cranberry extract and a raft of skin-beneficial Community Fair Trade ingredients has a mouth-watering fruity fragrance.

Colored My Hair RED and PURPLE @ ICON by Shunji Matsuo for our Wedding Photoshoot!

Outdoor shoot

TGIF chewy chewy friends! By the time you are reading this post, misterchewy and I are probably somewhere high up in the skies, on our way to The Land of Smiles! Yeah, Thailand, that’s right! πŸ˜› We are off to Bangkok to eat, shop, sightsee and enjoy the traditional Thai massage! This short getaway shall be our well-deserved break after our wedding photoshoot on Monday. It was a blardy exhausting whole day affair. Woke up at 7am and reached the studio before 10am. Indoor photoshoot started at around 11.30am and we had a quick lunch before moving off for our outdoor shoot slightly before 3pm. I know some people don’t like to pose for photos but misterchewy and I enjoyed it soooo much! Kinda unbelievable that the photoshoot actually turned out to be very fun! Our photographer (who I think kinda looks like Gary Chaw) was a barrel of laughs and we didn’t feel tensed or uneasy throughout the shoot. In fact, everything went very smoothly! πŸ˜€

ICON by Shunji Matsuo

Just for this shoot, I had to endure my irritating fringe for a few months because I was under the impression that my makeup artist (MUA) can create different hairstyles for me πŸ˜› I never had such long fringe before! It’s around my mouth level now anyway. I also ditched my yellowish highlights in exchange for red and purple hair! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Like I have mentioned before, I like to procrastinate and leave things till the last minute. Finally visited the salon a few days before the shoot, right after I got off from work. Was asking around for recommendations around Holland Village and dear Carrie from The Cambelles told me about ICON by Shunji Matsuo. Total damage was around $550 for two colors and Sherpa treatment. *Heartpain* Had to keep telling myself it’s justifiable for the shoot. Anyway my MUA kept saying the shade of purple is very ‘chio’. *Beams* πŸ˜€

at salon

I settled for purple because I was sick of having different shades of brown since the first time I colored my hair about 6 to 7 years ago but more importantly, I wanted something wild for our wedding photos πŸ˜› Chose a very dark shade of red to complement the purple because I didn’t wanna attract too much attention. LOL. Haha ya paradox lor I know. >_<

Hubby Chewy knocked off from work and accompanied me for the next 1 hour plus. The panorama photo of the salon was taken by him using iPhone 5! Actually most of the other photos in this post also la.

doing treatment

I don’t know what exactly is Sherpa treatment but I chose it because it was more expensive. Since I’m already spending money, might as well go for the best right? πŸ˜› Besides, my hair needs it! Long hair is very hard to maintain and my hair is very dry at the ends. *sob*

almost done

It was agonizing having to sit in the salon for close to 4 hours but I think it was worth it! How to go work like that? Aiya I only colored the inside, somewhere near the back of my neck. Don’t really know how to explain but nevermind.

Outdoor shoot 2

This is one of our looks for the shoot. Really happy and satisfied with our MUA because he knows exactly what I want! Too many people that we would like to thank – Our photographer, MUA, Katrina from Cold Rock Ice Creamery, The White Rabbit, Hans and Valerie from Backyard@Dempsey, Krist for my nails and also Maureen for helping out during the outdoor shoot. I posted a few sneak photos on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/missuschewy! We might be sharing updates on FB while we are at Bangkok as well, so keep a lookout! πŸ˜€

ROM Party Makeover by Ivan Hoo of In Square Salon!

ROM Party Makeover

Before the solemnization party at Symphony Heights, Maureen of misstamchiak.com was really gracious enough to offer me her complimentary hair styling and makeover by Ivan Hoo, Creative Director of In Square Salon. I was initially quite hesitant because I paisey mah. But then again, Maureen is the ‘mai lugi’ queen so I must learn from her. Haha! Just kidding! Anyway, In Square Salon is located at Blk 24 Sin Ming Road. I would say that Ivan is very professional and takes care of little details, like trying to cover up the mole on my cheek as seen in one of the photos πŸ˜› I quite like my overall ι€ εž‹ even though it took me some time to get used to my (temporarily) curled hair! It was a jaw dropping moment for the husband the moment he saw me. He commented that my face and nose are much sharper. Haha ok thanks I know that my nose is ridiculously flat :( Once again, a big thank you to Ivan and to Maureen for the lovely photos in this blog post! πŸ˜€
