Silhouette Soft Face Threadlift by La Clinic

Edited-5

Reality sets in once you reach your 30s and you cannot help but notice signs of aging. Just by looking at someone’s face, you can somewhat estimate his or her age. We look at ourselves in the mirror every single day and you know that your skin is aging when you start to notice that your cheeks are less plump, eyelids are drooping and fine lines appear around your face.

The one thing that had been bothering me for a long time was my nasolabial folds, also known as laugh lines. When I was much younger, laugh lines sounded pretty cool to me as I thought that only people who were truly happy and laughed a lot would have these lines on their faces. Now that I have these laugh lines, I’m worried and horrified at the same time. In fact, I had done face fillers in the past but the effects did not last long enough for me.

I had a fruitful consultation session with Dr Rachel Ho of La Clinic who graduated from the National University of Singapore and was a recipient of multiple awards including the Dean’s List for multiple years. She has a special interest in minimally invasive treatments for anti-aging and enhancement of facial aesthetics. Dr Rachel Ho regularly attends local and international conferences to stay at forefront of the latest trends and advancements in anti-aging and aesthetic medicine. She believes that one can age beautifully and gracefully by combining healthy lifestyle habits with medical aesthetic treatments.

After examining my face closely and determining what needs to be addressed, Dr Rachel Ho suggested a face threadlift using Silhouette Soft threads as a solution to my problems of saggy cheeks and nasolabial folds (laugh lines). Firstly, it is important to know that it the Silhouette Soft face threadlift is US FDA approved to treat face sagging, nasolabial folds and marionette lines. The Silhouette Soft Threadlift is an anti-aging treatment that helps to restore one’s youth by repositioning, providing volume, and stimulating lost collagen production in the face. The threads for Silhouette Soft face threadlift are bio-absorbable sutures that are made of poly L-lactic acid (PLLA). There are various types of threads for face threadlifts available in the market and what makes the Silhouette Soft face threadlift unique is that these threads are lined with bidirectional cones, instead of sharp barbs. The results achieved would be softer, more natural and lasts longer with Silhouette Soft face threadlift, compared to other face threadlifts.

To top it all off, the PLLA threads help to stimulate collagen in the skin after the procedure, giving the face threadlift a gradual lifting effect which can last over a year.

Before the face threadlift, my face was thoroughly cleansed and Dr Rachel Ho began to mark out the insertion points for the face threadlift on my face before she proceeded to inject local anaesthesia. Dr Rachel Ho was careful to make sure my face was sufficiently numb before starting the Silhouette Soft face threadlift. The entire procedure took about half an hour or less; no wonder it’s called a “lunchtime facelift”.

Edited-47

There was minimal pain and it was the pulling and tugging of the threads under my skin that made me feel weird.

The results from the Silhouette Soft face threadlift are instantaneous. As this treatment is minimally invasive, it leaves no scars and has only very minimal downtime, depending on individuals. One look in the mirror and I could tell that my nasolabial folds had disappeared (GASP!!), my cheek plumped up and my jaw line much more defined. I would go as far as to say that the Silhouette Soft face threadlift had helped me to achieve a V-shaped face too!

Dr Rachel Ho took great care to prescribe me with some oral antibiotics and cream to apply. I could still go about my daily chores and eat all my favorite food, except that I had to refrain from alcohol for a week as it would cause even more bruising.

Besides the cheeks, Silhouette Soft face threadlift can also be carried out on different areas of the face such as jaw line, eyebrow, neck, mid face area, as well as contours of the face. Silhouette Soft face threadlift works best for people over the age of 30 because of its dual lift-and-collagen-regenerating effect. Besides the immediate and discreet lifting, Silhouette Soft face threadlift promotes the restoration of lost collagen, which ultimately gives gradual and natural looking results over time.

Is There a Certain Age to Considering a Facelift?

IMG - Is There a Certain Age to Considering a Facelift

When you want to look younger and improve the contours of your face, a facelift is one of the most effective procedures at helping you reach this goal. However, it’s important that you opt for a facelift at the right age, as obtaining one too soon may be unnecessary when other treatment options would be preferable. To best understand whether or not there’s a certain age at which you should consider a facelift, it’s first important to understand what a facelift is and everything that it entails.

What is a Facelift?

A facelift is a very common type of plastic surgery that helps to improve the most noticeable signs of aging and can be applied to both the face and the neck. There are a variety of issues that a facelift can assist with, such as fat that has fallen within the cheeks, the development of jowls in the jaw or cheeks, deeper lines around the corner of the mouth, and sagging skin that occurs naturally with age. These aging problems can be expedited for a wide array of reasons, ranging from smoking too much to sun damage on the skin. There are times when a facelift will be used in combination with additional plastic surgeries like eyelid surgery or a brow lift. It’s important to understand that a facelift only improves the contours of your face and neck, as it can’t completely reverse the effects of aging.

What Does the Facelift Procedure Entail?

The exact details of a facelift depends somewhat on how much changes you want to be made to your face or neck areas. As with most plastic surgeries, a facelift will begin with the administration of general anesthesia. The procedure will then start with one of three options that depend on the degree of change that you wish to see. These options include a limited incision facelift, a traditional facelift, and a neck lift. If you select a standard facelift, the incision will extend from the temples to the back of the ear, which makes for the lengthiest incisions with these procedures.

If you choose a limited incision facelift, the incisions will occur around the lower portions of the ear, while a neck lift calls for similar incisions to the limited incision facelift with the primary difference being that the neck lift incisions extend further back to the posterior hair. Once the incisions have been properly made, the skin and the fat underneath will be rearranged to provide tighter and more youthful looking skin. The incisions will then be closed once any excess skin has been removed. The sutures that are used to close the incisions will typically be removed after several days. Given the placement of the incision lines, they will fade into your hairline in a matter of a week or two.

Is There a Certain Age That’s Best For a Facelift?

There’s no exact age wherein it’s recommended that you obtain a facelift, as this type of procedure is highly personal and should only be requested when you’re certain that it’s something that you truly want. It won’t completely alter how you look, but there will be some changes made to your appearance with this procedure. Most plastic surgeons do not want to perform this type of procedure on patients who are below the age of 30, although exceptions can be made depending on the circumstances.

You can consider obtaining a facelift between the ages of 35 and 65, although the best time to get a facelift is widely considered to be between the ages of 45 and 50, which is due primarily to the fact that these procedures are designed to preserve the natural look of a person’s face. As a person gets older, their results will be more dramatic, particularly over the age of 60, which is why it’s recommended to address the signs of aging early.

Facelift Recovery

The recovery process for a facelift procedure is a short and simple one in most cases. It’s possible that your face will be bandaged for a small period of time in order to minimize the swelling and any bruising that you experience. After a few days, the stitches will be removed or will dissolve on their own. If the swelling and bruising do not subside in a couple of weeks, make sure to contact your surgeon. You can return to normal activities in around 7-14 days, depending on the speed of your recovery.

Halley Medical Aesthetics Charlene Missuschewy 2

Being a mother of two young girls is no mean feat. Adding a full-time job and household chores into the mix makes me wonder how long can I keep up with this before losing my sanity! All the late nights have seriously taken a toll on me and I can’t help but feel that I have aged tremendously. Whenever I glance at myself in the mirror, I wish those eyebags would disappear and my face would be miraculously sharper. I decided it’s time to visit Halley Medical Aesthetics.

Halley Medical Aesthetics is located in the heart of town, within Orchard Gateway shopping mall. I love the convenient location as it meant that my husband and kids could chill at a café or check out a toy store nearby while waiting for me.

I had a consultation with Dr. Terence Tan and told him about my facial concerns. I felt that my face had gotten rounder with all the unhealthy snacking and my hollow eyes made me look a lot older.

Also, I wish for sharper features to make myself look more attractive! I actually enjoyed my consultation session with Dr Terence Tan as he is very patient, approachable and has a great sense of humor! He also took time to explain and clear all the doubts which I had.

At the end of the session, Dr Terence Tan recommended dermal fillers from Juvederm to enhance features such as tear trough, nose, chin and cheeks, as well as Botox to slim down my jawline. Dr Terence introduced Juvederm, which is the gold standard of dermal fillers, to me. There are various types of Juvederm fillers that will work best for different parts of the face.
In a nutshell, Dr Terence Tan recommended Juvederm Voluma (the firmest filler) for Chin and nose bridge, Juvederm Volift (mid-soft filler) for cheeks and Juvederm Vobella (the softest filler) for tear trough.

I revisited Halley Medical Aesthetics a few weeks later for the treatment. My face was cleansed and some numbing cream was applied to my nose, tear trough and jaw. It wasn’t my first time getting fillers done for my face so I kinda knew what to expect. I was bracing myself for all the pain that would be bestowed upon me but was surprised that the procedure was swift and relatively painless!

I later learnt that Dr Terence Tan made use of the Magic Needle for injecting dermal fillers, which is actually a cannula specially designed with a rounded tip. The Magic Needle reduces the discomfort factor by up to 90%, thus making the procedure a lot more tolerable! I would say that the overall experience was not traumatising at all, plus the clinic assistant was very attentive in placing the ice packs on the treatment areas of my face before and after injecting of the fillers.

I could see that the effects were instantaneous! My nose bridge was visibly higher and my chin was slightly sharper. Also, my tear troughs were no longer hollow, and I definitely looked more alert and youthful.

I would say that the change wasn’t too drastic and extreme, but just a subtle yet impactful enhancement here and there to make myself look better on the overall. There wasn’t downtime at all, except that there was a little puffiness for the next couple of hours but it went away really quickly. I could still wash my face and put on makeup as usual. The results actually got better with time and I could see that my jawline is much sharper now. On average, the fillers are expected to last about a year.
