Sundown Soiree Evening Tea at The Landing Point, The Fullerton Bay Hotel

A32A2587

This Mother’s Day saw me celebrating the occasion for the very first time as a mummy of two. I don’t have much recollection as to how we celebrated Mother’s Day over the past few years since 2014, but last year’s afternoon tea at The Fullerton Bay Hotel’s The Landing Point remains fresh in my memory. I had blogged about it and it’s one of my most popular posts even till today. I guess many of my readers love indulging in high tea as well 🙂 This year, we revisited The Landing Point for its evening tea which I will be sharing in greater detail!

A32A2591

The celebration was supposed to be over Mother’s Day weekend but unfortunately, both girls were unwell and we had to postpone the evening tea till a week later. I was elated to receive a handmade card from the hubs and my favorite Baby’s Breath flowers from the girls 🙂

A32A2596

All of us sure looked gleeful in this photo. Papa Chewy did a great job in making us smile so widely. LOL. I specially picked this Bella Blue Maxi Nursing Dress from Jump Eat Cry for the occasion. Never would I have imagined wearing a maxi dress that is nursing friendly! If you see something you like at www.jumpeatcry.com, enter “MAMACHARLENE” upon checkout and be entitled to 15% off storewide!

A32A2637

I was really thrilled when I learned that The Landing Point launched its Sundown Soiree Evening Tea which includes a refillable 3-tiered set comprising of dainty sweet and savoury housemade creations such as the Smoked Salmon Crème Fraîche Mini Bagel, Duck Rillettes on Sourdough with Pickled Onions, and Parma Ham and Truffled Mascarpone Crostini. Sundown Soiree is available daily from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. At S$45++ per adult and $22++ per child, the set is inclusive of a welcome cocktail from The Clifford Collection and free-flowing speciality coffees and teas, juices and soft drinks.

A32A2603

Haha it’s not such a good time for babies though because it’s near their bedtime.

A32A2606

The hubs selected the Espresso Martini as his welcome drink.

A32A2619

I went for The Cosmopolitan and was surprised that it was quite potent. I would like to think that my alcohol tolerance is pretty okay but as soon as I finished my drink, I felt a little heady. LOL. But it’s all good!

A32A2624

A32A2610

As compared to the traditional English afternoon tea set, I reckon the evening tea set has much more savories than sweets. Great for folks like misterchewy who doesn’t really have a crazy sweet tooth!

A32A2620

The top tier was the one which got Little misschewy all excited! There were Carrot Cake Cream Cheese Frosting, Lemon Tart with Strawberry, Chocolate Éclairs and Macarons. Little misschewy’s favorite was the chocolate eclairs which she had countless servings of! I quite liked the lemon tart for its refreshing zesty flavors!

A32A2614

The middle tier consists of Mini Pizza Puff, Truffle Mushroom Strudel and Egg Tarts. Pretty normal tasting fare; nothing to shout about. I don’t remember requesting any refills for this tier. Haha.

A32A2613

Both misterchewy and I enjoyed the bottom tier most. Our favorites were the Smoked Salmon Crème Fraiche Mini Bagel and Duck Rillettes on Sour Dough, amongst the other items that were available, such as Pickled Onions Parma Ham and Truffle Mascarpone Crostini Brie Cheese and Quince on Walnut Crackers, and Smoked Duck & Pepper Burrito.

A32A2635

With the exception of the welcome cocktail, other drinks such as tea, coffee, soda and chilled juices are all refillable!

A32A2616

A32A2641

The hubs and I had the Frappe coffee to end our evening tea! Really good stuff!

A32A2632

UOB card holders get to enjoy 1-for-1 Sundown Soiree Evening Tea (Mon to Sun)! We paid about $50++ in total for this. Pretty good deal huh! 🙂 This promo ends on 30th June 2017. Prior reservation is required. Do check with the hotel for its terms and conditions. Hehe don’t say I never share!

A32A2626

LOL. This is the best photo out of three that we have! Uncooperative toddler and sleepy baby.. Hahaha! Click here if you would like to find out more about The Landing Point’s traditional English afternoon tea 🙂

Mother’s Day Dinner at Shima Japanese Restaurant

A32A2563

Happy Mother’s Day to all amazing and selfless mummies out there! Being a mother is definitely very rewarding and of course tiring but at the end of the day, we know that the blood, sweat and tears are all worth it. As a full-time working mum, I’m always half dead by the time I reach home from work. More often than not, I fall asleep with the girls while the hubs and I shush-pat them to sleep (actually it’s just Cayla), which can be a good thing cuz it means I get to sleep early before 10pm BUT I would have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to wash and sterilise milk bottles etc. The entire cycle repeats from Monday to Friday and I find that I’m just going through the motions everyday. It’s like there’s no meaning to life? Looks like I have to do something about it soon! 😉

A32A2480

So anyway, the hubs and I seldom have our own couple time but things are getting slightly better lately! He proposed a Mother’s Day dinner celebration after work on Friday for just the two of us and he managed to make childcare arrangements with both my mother and mother-in-law. To be honest, I felt like cancelling on him cuz I was really tired after a long week of craziness at home (both kids were sick) and at work but decided it wouldn’t be fair to him since he had made the effort to find a nice place (I assumed! LOL) for dinner. To cut the long story short, the surprise dinner location was Tatsuya at Goodwood Park Hotel but there was a large group booking which took up the entire indoor seating area. I was disappointed when we were ushered to a table outdoors, by the road side, where it was dark and pretty humid. We then decided to walk over to Shima instead! Good thing there’s another Japanese restaurant at Goodwood Park!

A32A2486

My mood was instantly lifted when we stepped into the air-conditioned restaurant. HAHA. I can’t live without aircon la. Took a glance at the menu and prices seemed pretty reasonable. The hubs ordered the Sakura set ($80) while I settled for the Unagi set ($90) so that we could try different dishes! We actually ordered another Sashimi Moriawase to share but the chef and waitress pointed out that it is also included in one of our sets and advised that we cancel our order because it might sashimi overload for us. Love the thickly cut slices of fish which was really fresh and succulent!

A32A2489

The Tempura features prawns, brinjal and green capsicum. Crispy and piping hot!

A32A2491

I love tucking into a Unagi Don every now and then. Not sure if it’s an acquired taste but I had to persuade misterchewy to give it a try during our dating days and I can’t say he’s a fan of unagi. During my second pregnancy, I craved unagi most of the time! The unagi at Shima was really good but I left most of my rice untouched cuz too full!

A32A2492

SUSHI GOALS like seriously?! Every piece of Sushi is like a pretty work of art! Totally blown away by the Chef’s choice of sushi here. This is part of misterchewy’s Sakura set.

A32A2502

Tiny flower petals on a sushi! And yes, the floral scent was pretty discernible.

A32A2504

The Chicken Katsu was quite tender, although I felt that the skin was a little too tough for a couple of pieces. The hubs felt that it was alright so it was probably just the ones that I picked.

A32A2514

Soup in a tea pot! We thought the waitress forgot our bowls and it turned out that the cups are placed on top of the pot. Haha! The soup is available for both our sets.

A32A2524

We squeezed the slice of lime into the soup, which contained some ingredients like shiitake mushroom, ginkgo, and bamboo shoot.

A32A2528

Soup was savoury yet refreshing!

A32A2530

Warabi Mochi on the house, courtesy of the Chef! Hehe not sure is it because he saw us taking plenty of photos of every single dish from start to end. LOL! It was chilled and chewy but it was a pity that we didn’t really like the taste of it.

A32A2532

Fresh cut fruits to end our marvelous meal!

A32A2510

On the overall, the food at Shima kept our bellies full, warm and happy! Total damage was slightly over $200, inclusive of refillable iced green tea at $4 each. Hehe I guess we should do this more often! 😛

Little misschewy’s Third Birthday Party!

A32A1360

Little misschewy turned THREE on 18th March! We held a mini celebration for her in school one day before her actual birthday! Two weeks ago, we told her that we would let her celebrate her birthday with her friends and she had been feeding information to her teachers about her “Peppa Pig birthday cake”! The day finally came and she was so excited that she began skipping and running towards her school. The hubs and I warned her incessantly to stop running because the road is uneven and we couldn’t hold her hand because we had the cake and gifts to carry with both hands. Poor girl fell and grazed her knees -_- Her teachers and auntie cleaner helped to clean her wound, and when she saw her classmates, she exclaimed, “Today is Chanelle’s Peppa Pig birthday party!” LOL. All her friends were jumping up and down (like how Peppa and family loved jumping up and down in muddy puddles HAHAHA) in excitement. So cute really! 😀

A32A1357-001

Big hugs and thank you to our favourite BakeAvenue for sponsoring Chanelle’s Peppa Pig birthday cake! Not only does Irene of BakeAvenue bake birthday cakes, Irene also bakes giant cupcakes, macarons, pushpops, Chinese New Year goodies, as well as conduct baking classes! The baking classes are held in a home environment at Hougang Avenue 3 and are great for teambuilding sessions and hen parties. BakeAvenue has been doing very well and they now have their own physical bakery at Blk 6 Hougang Ave 3 #01-66!

A32A1377

I ordered some Peppa Pig coloring books and crayons for the children but shipment was delayed! Good thing my mum helped me to get two different types of Peppa cookies and some gummy candies as party favors!

A32A1363

Chanelle’s customised Peppa Pig party hat and Peppa dress arrived just in time for her party! Blur mummy ordered the wrong dress design for her! I didn’t even realise until I snapped a photo and sent it to my mum, and she was the one who pointed this out to me! We had previously agreed on which design to get. Hehe.

Untitled

I ordered size 2-3Y but the dress turned out to be way too short for her! Dug out another white tutu skirt for her and luckily they match quite well!

33500142185_24ca776688_o

Group photo with all her friends before cake cutting!

A32A1378

Chanelle wasn’t the only one who was excited about her cake. Actually, the rest of their kids couldn’t keep their hands off the cake too and their laoshi had to remind them to stay away and remain seated while she helped to light the candles. Haha!

A32A1383

Laoshi switched off the lights before all of them sang the birthday song and the kids were all clapping in glee.

A32A1389

I wonder what Chanelle wished for? Hahaha her expression!

A32A1392

A32A1396

LOL don’t know what’s so funny?! Chanelle was like super high! Hahaha.

A32A1413

A32A1427

The chocolate sponge cake was really fluffy and moist, while the cream was light and airy. Peppa Pig came in the form of a chocolate macaron. How adorable! Hehe. And I was amazed that the kids are such good eaters! Almost all of them went for a second helping of the cake! :O Luckily, there was enough for all the teachers and staff too! For more info, check out BakeAvenue at http://www.bakeavenue.com/! They also have a Facebook and Instagram account!

A32A1405

Come to think of it, this was Chanelle’s first time celebrating her birthday in school as we were in Japan last March with Cayla in my tummy! I was looking through our photos and realised that Chanelle has grown so much over the past year! She no longer looks like a little boy now. Hahaha! Ok, now I need to start planning Cayla’s party! 😀

The Chewys’ Valentine’s Day 2017

A32A1113

The hubs and I celebrated our 7th Valentine’s Day together this year! We didn’t celebrate on the actual day and instead, we took leave from work on Friday that same week to have lunch together. It was a good move because we avoided the ridiculous prices that most restaurants were charging for their Vday set menu and also every other couple who were celebrating the occasion! I suggested having lunch at CreatureS because I wanted to try the food there for the longest time and it was a good opportunity to do so without the kids! We ordered two dishes from the Sharing menu and two other Mains. Food was quite good! The sharing items were way better than the mains though.

A32A1099

A32A1109

A32A1097

A32A1145

After our meal, we adjourned to Foxhole Café for dessert! Not that we were not full. I just wanted to check out this pretty café!

Just a simple update on our Valentine’s Day celebration! 🙂 Have a great week!

LongQing 隆庆 Specialty Hotpot Singapore Review

Invited Tasting

A32A0234

I’m a typical Singaporean who love having sumptuous hotpots with my family and friends from time to time. When I was recently invited to LongQing 隆庆 Specialty Hotpot along Hong Kong Street, I just couldn’t say no! Unlike many other hotpot restaurants, 8-month old LongQing prides itself in its no-MSG soup bases that are cooked for hours on end daily using ingredients like herbs, meat and bones. Apart from the extensive ala carte menu, hotpot set menus for 2 pax ($55 – $65), and 6 pax ($180) are available as well.

A32A0296

Even though LongQing is barely a year old, business was evidently brisk after 7pm which make reservations highly recommended. The restaurant exudes a warm, homely atmosphere and owner James Chiew explained that the murals are paintings of his wife, who hails from Chong Qing, and his then 3-month old son.

A32A0236

We had some appetisers to munch on while waiting for the soup bases to be served. The Chilled Spicy Black Fungus ($6.80) was spicy and tangy, making it a great appetite-whetter, plus the fungus crunched with every bite!

A32A0239

The Spicy Garlic Pork Belly ($10) was a pure delight especially when dipped into the accompanying sauce. The thinly sliced pork belly was tender with just the right amount of fat.

A32A0241

I’m a huge fan of braised pig ears since I was a little girl and I love having them with plain porridge. Very happy to know that LongQing serves Braised Pig Ear with Mashed Cucumber ($10) which was well-marinated with spices.

A32A0245

A must-have for hotpot meals, the Crispy Fish Skin ($3.80) can be eaten on its own, dipped in your own concoction of sauces, or better yet, with the delicious soup bases!

A32A0285

Little misschewy really enjoyed eating the crispy fish skin!

A32A0278

At LongQing, four types of soup bases are available, which are priced at $14 for an individual base and $18 for a mix of two bases as seen in the above photo. The Wild Mushroom soup base was really fragrant; a must-try if you are a mushroom lover like me. It is boiled using a variety of mushrooms and herbs, resulting in a natural sweetness from the juices of the mushrooms. James explained that in actuality, ma la soup bases are not supposed to be drunk because it is made using beef lard which is supposedly very oily and unhealthy. He has tweaked his recipe for the Spicy Ma La soup base such that it is not so oily for customers at LongQing to enjoy drinking it. The ma la soup bases that I had tried at other restaurants were just numbingly spicy, while the one at LongQing is addictively flavourful!

A32A0280

For those who prefer something simple can go for the Signature Clear Broth. The taste is actually quite mild, which allows the taste and freshness of the hotpot ingredients to stand out. It was our first time trying Tomato Soup as a hotpot soup base and the experience was a pleasant one. The tomato soup was sweet and very robust. Let’s take a look at the ingredients that we had! All in all, the meat and veggies were all very fresh, and we could really taste the natural sweetness of the ingredients.

A32A0250

Vegetable Platter ($12)

A32A0256

Pork Belly ($11)

A32A0294

Pork Collar ($11)

Pig Liver ($8)

A32A0248

Crispy Beancurd Skin Roll ($6.80)

A32A0259

A32A0260

Handmade Pork Balls ($12)

A32A0261

Luncheon Meat ($6.80)

A32A0293

Beancurd Skin with Fish Paste ($3.80)

A32A0308

Ended our hotpot meal with some desserts! The Pumpkin Cake ($7.80) was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and tasted mildly sweet. Even though we were feeling quite full from the hotpot, the pumpkin cake seemed to complete the entire meal.

A32A0322

A32A0306

We also enjoyed the Crispy Taro Balls ($7.80) which were first steamed before being fried. This is LongQing’s popular dessert and you need to call and reserve!

This Chinese New Year, gather your family and friends for hotpot at LongQing and indulge in their CNY Seafood Platter ($188) which is very value-for-money considering there are premium seafood such as lobster, abalone, sea cucumber, prawn, scallop and fish! These six chosen ingredients symbolise 六六大顺!

A32A0347

Apart from the hearty MSG-free soup bases and premium quality food ingredients, service is attentive and top-notch. Also, misterchewy gave a thumbs up for their Mandopop playlist. Do check out LongQing’s facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LongQing.sg/ for more info!

$88++ Christmas Omakase at Fort by Maison Ikkoku

A32A9548

Let me tell you a secret (ok it’s no longer one if you had seen my IG stories). I brought my baby to a bar. Well, not just any bar, but a gastrobar that specializes in bespoke cocktails. Not only that, this place is fast gaining popularity as foodies in Singapore have caught wind of the affordably priced 12-course omakase menu at just $68++ per person. That’s FORT by Maison Ikkoku for you! Located at the top of Fort Canning Hill within Pinacothèque De Paris, FORT is a cosy 30-seater space that takes in two seatings every night, at 6.30pm and 8.30pm. I would love to occupy a seat by the bar counter to watch all the magic unfold, if it wasn’t for the fact that I had to keep an eye on the little one in the stroller.

A32A9570

The suave and youthful-looking Executive Chef cum Senior Master Mixologist, Ethan Leslie Leong, is also the Executive Director of Maison Ikkoku and FORT. He is renowned for his mixology skills and major brands such as CHANEL, Mont Blanc, Guess, Giorgio Armani, Diesel, Polo Ralph Lauren, Viktor & Rolf, agnès b and Penhaligon’s have chosen to collaborate with him to design bespoke cocktails to showcase during prestigious events.

A32A9556-horz

I had the pleasure of watching Ethan’s sidekick in action that evening. Matteo Cadeddu is an award winning mixologist from Italy and holds the title of Head Mixologist at FORT, where bespoke cocktails start from $23++. Matteo will come up with something interesting based on your preferences and if the drink is not up to your expectation, you can request to have it changed at no extra cost, although I think it’s unlikely to happen.

A32A9564-horz

I asked for something sweet, while misterchewy was leaning towards a savory choice. I would say that my Raspberry with Sake is a pretty safe drink; sweet and fruity. What’s not to like? The hubs was clearly impressed by his Earl Grey with Basil and Miso. Definitely very unique!

A32A9617

If you are not a fan of alcoholic drinks, there’s always mocktails that are equally delicious!

A32A9575

Without further ado, let’s take a sneak peek at some of the dishes we had as part of the Christmas omakase menu, priced at $88++ per person where more premium ingredients will be featured. Do note that the menu changes on a weekly basis, and is also subjected to availability of fresh, quality ingredients. The first course was Braised “Radish” with Konbo which had a slight tinge of bitterness from the radish, coupled with the kelp’s umami taste. Good start to our 12-course meal!

A32A9584

Resting in a bed of delicious Asian dressing made up of soy sauce, ginger, coriander and a drizzle of lime, the Seared Tuna Carpaccio in Asian Touch was injected with a multitude of flavors that made it a joy to devour.

A32A9587

Feast your eyes on this baby sitting atop a cube of ice. For an oyster lover, the Live Irish oyster with Caviar Lime, Salmon Roe, Wasabi Cress, Sake was a real treat! The oyster was plump and meaty, plus the juices packed a wallop!

A32A9590

As harmless as the Signature Fort Roll might look, it actually turned out to be quite fiery with Chef Ethan’s very own chilli sauce blend! Stuffed with spicy maguro, onion sprouts and cucumber, the maki crunched wonderfully with every bite!

A32A9594

The Aburi Salmon Sushi with Ikura was nothing short of amazing. Pop the entire piece into your mouth for that foodgasm experience! I love that the aburi-ed salmon had a light smoky flavor which lent an extra dimension to the overall dish.

A32A9600

It was a brilliant idea to pair truffle with mac and cheese. Both misterchewy and I adored the Truffle Mushroom Mac & Cheese with Black Roe. The pasta was al dente, with just the right amount of creaminess. Our senses were elevated with the addition of truffle!

A32A9609

I love eggs, especially one that had been submerged in hot water to create softy silky egg white and custardy egg yolk. The Free-range Onsen Egg was a good example that lived up to my expectation and more! You are supposed to beat the yolk and mix it in with the whites and garlic oil before slurping all that goodness!

A32A9615

The presentation of the Uni Ikura Donburi took my breath away. It looks just like a mini terrarium, doesn’t it? We were told to mash everything together before taking in a spoonful, which was a little difficult. Would be great if there was some kinda sauce dizzled over this dish. Our overall experience at FORT was truly amazing. Loved the atmosphere and the energetic vibe! FORT is a great place for romantic dates and also boys’ or girls’ night out! I can foresee myself returning to FORT, without the kids of course. FORT is now taking in reservations for the month of December! At $88++ for its festive omakase menu, I would say that it’s very affordable and worth every dollar. Don’t miss out on it!

Blend It Up Italian Fusion Restaurant by Celebrity Chef Peter Neo

Chef Peter Neo

A few years back, misterchewy and I had the privilege of meeting Celebrity Chef Peter Neo in person and trying his dishes at another restaurant. Chef Peter has since ventured out on his own and set up a cosy and quaint Italian fusion casual dining restaurant along Upper Paya Lebar Road. With 35 years of cooking experience and numerous awards under his belt, Chef Peter, who was trained in Italy, is highly regarded in the media and F&B industry in Singapore and has garnered numerous fans who are also returning customers over the years.

Blend It Up Shop Interior 5

Two-month old Blend It Up Italian Fusion Dining Restaurant aims to bring an Asian twist to Italian cuisine, using only the freshest quality ingredients and blending all of them together with their natural goodness to create the restaurant’s handcrafted soups, sauces and mains. Expect only authentic flavors that are free from any preservatives at Blend It Up!

PA240457

For starters, we had the Seafood Soup which was rich and tangy, and more importantly, packed with flavors of the ocean. There was also a chockfull of ingredients such as prawns, squid, mussels and clams.

PA240461

Using only the freshest mushrooms, the Wild Mushroom Soup had a very nice earthy taste that warmed the cockles of my heart. Great for slurping up on a chilly day!

PA240469

The accompany slices of bread are freshly baked in-house and Little misschewy enjoyed it so much.

PA240462

What’s the best way to eat a fresh squid? Grill it! The Whole Grilled Squid was first seasoned with homemade blend of mixed herbs, paprika, crushed black pepper, basil, and diced cherry tomatoes. After grilling, it was glazed with extra virgin oil and some lemon. The result was a wholesome piece of squid that was so tender and juicy, with its taste further enhanced by the seasoning.

PA240467

The Roasted Pork Belly with Porcini Sauce is our favorite dish at Blend It Up. The pork belly was slow-roasted till tender and was evenly marbled with fat, underneath a layer of crackling which was perfectly crispy. A few steps were involved in the making of this dish, which is Chef Peter’s secret! You wouldn’t believe how crispy the pork crackling was! The homemade Porcini sauce went very well with the roasted pork belly, but I preferred dipping the meat in the refreshing pineapple sauce to tone down the taste of the pork a little.

PA240471

The Salted Egg Spaghetti tasted almost like carbonara with a very faint hint of salted egg. Salted egg pizza is available too!

PA240477

Blend It Up Pizza is Chef Peter’s favorite pizza. The pizza was thin, doughy and crispy around the edges, topped with feta and mozzarella cheese, honey baked ham, mushroom, rocket leaves and a beautiful sunny side up.

PA240484

Little misschewy is quite a fussy eater but let me tell you that she ate at least two slices of pizza. It was that good!

PA240490

There is a variety of lava cakes such as chocolate, salted egg, pistachio and durian, at Blend It Up. We had the Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Gelato. The lava cake was moist and warm, and upon slicing, molten black sesame oozed out from it. Eat it together with the vanilla gelato for a taste of heaven!

PA240493

Thanks to Blend It Up, we have TEN $10 vouchers to give away! PastaMania: Affordable Family Restaurant and Doughworkz Class

Advertorial

PA160342

I grew up with PastaMania since my JC days. Back then when I was young(er), my girl friends and I loved hanging out at Lot One after classes (now you know which JC I was from) and most of the time, we would pick PastaMania for lunch. As for misterchewy, he would take the then newly opened Downtown line to PastaMania at Plaza Singapura with his friends after school. Till today, he has fond memories of tucking into a delicious plate of Chicken Bolognese at PastaMania. After a long day of attending lectures and tutorials in campus, what we really looked forward to after school, was a sumptuous hot meal that is affordable for the average student and PastaMania was our ideal choice. Most of the dishes cost about $10 only! My all-time favourites were Al Funghi, Carbonara and Creamy Chicken! Now that we are reminiscing about the past, we can’t believe that PastaMania has been around for more than 10 years already! I guess it’s because PastaMania is always keeping up with the latest food trends and expanding its menu, offering diners plenty of appealing food choices at reasonable prices! It is also a popular choice at my workplace because PastaMania is halal certified and we have Muslim colleagues, so we would sometimes order PastaMania delivery when we are too busy to head out for lunch!

Recently, The Chewys had lunch at PastaMania and the vast variety certainly made us feel spoilt for choice! There was so much that we wanted to try! I finally decided on the Salmon with Creamy Tomato Sauce and the thick slab of salmon was nicely pan-seared, moist on the inside and flaky with a golden brown crust. The linguine was al dente and the creamy tomato sauce was pretty addictive! This dish comes with a side of salad too! Will definitely order this again on our next visit!

The hubs knew that he just had to order the Salted Egg Soft-Shell Crab as he was flipping through the menu. Salted egg yolk is all the rage and we are glad that PastaMania made a good move by coming up with this dish! The pairing of salted egg yolk with soft shell crab was simply amazing!

PastaMania’s drinks menu is also quite extensive! Apart from the usual soft drinks, they have juices and really cool drinks like Milo Maniac and Choco-Licko Gelato Smoothie. It was a real treat for misterchewy and I!

PastaMania kids feast menu

Kids are not forgotten at PastaMania! The Kids Feast Menu consists of a half size pasta, side or dessert and a drink, at just $8.90! This is really affordable and value-for-money, plus there’s no need for parents to split their food portions with their kids. Choose from 6 different types of pastas (beef Bolognese, chicken Bolognese, cheesy meatball, cheesy chicken sausage broccoli, dory fish and carrot, mac & cheese) and either a snack (cheddar cheese sticks, waffle potato, cheesy garlic bread) or gelato (chocolate popcorn, marshmellow mango, vanilla berry).

We ordered the Cheesy Chicken Sausage Broccoli for Little misschewy because she loves broccoli. It’s served on such a cute plate! We were glad to see her enjoying her meal and she even offered to share some of her yummy pasta with us.

Boost Milk Supply with Franjo’s Kitchen Tanker Toppers Lactation Cookies Plus Giveaway!

A32A9222

Being a new mother all over again, one of my top concerns and priorities is breastfeeding Mini misschewy exclusively for 6 months. As compared to my past breastfeeding experience, I had a pretty good head start this time because I nursed Cayla every two to three hours immediately after delivery and my milk supply kicked in the next day while we were still in the hospital. Besides frequent nursing and drinking sufficient warm water throughout the day, consuming lactation cookies is also another way that can help mothers boost and maintain their milk supply! If you don’t already know, lactation cookies contain galactagogues, which have been used for many years by breastfeeding mums to help with milk supply!

Shortly after my confinement, I received some lactation cookies from Wholesome Harvest Pte Ltd, a wholesaler distributing organic and natural food and drinks products in Singapore. They have recently started to distribute lactation cookies from Franjo’s Kitchen Australia, which is a joint business venture between two mothers, Fran and Jo. Their passion is in helping other mothers nourish their bodies while breastfeeding their little ones through consuming their lactation cookies.

Named Tanker Toppers, Franjo’s Kitchen lactation cookies are full of natural galactogogues – oats, brewer’s yeast, and flaxseeds. They also contain chia seeds, coconut oil and buckwheat flour which will load mothers and their babies with vitamins, minerals and good fats! Designed by Jo, who is a naturopath and nutritionist, these lactation cookies do not contain any additives, preservatives or colours and are made with only wholefoods. The cookies are also suitable for vegans as they are wheat, dairy and egg free.

Flavours

Currently, there are two different flavours in the market – Fig & Almond and Choc Chip. Almonds help to increase milk supply while figs are high in calcium. Put these two together and you have the perfect breastfeeding snack! Everyone loves chocolate chip, me included! It’s impossible to say no to chocolate! Franjo’s Kitchen lactation cookies are fragrant, crumbly in texture and subtly sweet. It is recommended that mothers eat 2 to 3 cookies per day to help with milk supply.

Because Franjo’s Kitchen lactation cookies are full of natural and wholesome ingredients, they are a great snack for everyone! Packaged into lovely tins in peach and purple colors, these cookies also serve as wonderful gifts for mummy friends!
