Makeup & Hairdo by CrystalLin Artistry for Casmin’s Wedding

Sponsored Makeover

IMG_3475

It seemed like it was not long ago when I blogged about Casmin’s hen’s night party! Sorry that this blog post came a little late πŸ˜› I attended Casmin’s wedding last month with my other other colleagues at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Sweet memories for me because that was where misterchewy and I held our ROM!

IMG_1701

I was really lucky that I had a makeup and hairdo sponsor for the wedding dinner! The timing was right when Crystal from CrystalLin Artistry approached me to do a review and I told her that I had a wedding dinner to attend and everything fell into place. She came over to my house with a huge makeup trolley bag! I was actually quite worried because it was raining that day but she arrived well on time!

IMG_0578

The process of the makeup and hairstyling was photographed by Crystal’s bf! Thank goodness he was around to help take photos πŸ˜›

IMG_0586

Crystal is a very friendly and affable makeup artist. She puts me at ease and I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all during the session πŸ™‚

I told Crystal that I didn’t want to have my hair bunned up because I was afraid that it would make my face look rounder than what it already is πŸ˜› She said that there are many hairstyles that I can try out even with my hair down.

IMG_0610

She went on with doing a half-updo with a hair bow for me, which she later revealed that it was inspired by one of Lady Gaga’s music video!

IMG_0616

OMG I mad love the hair bow! It’s really sometime unique and very cute too! πŸ˜€

IMG_0631

We are not done yet! Crystal suggested curling my hair too.

Grand Park Orchard Hotel Singapore Staycation Blog Review

Sponsored Staycation

_MG_9907

Hola chewy chewy friends! The kind folks from Park Hotel Group invited misterchewy and I for a staycation experience review at Grand Park Orchard Hotel about two weeks ago! Guess what? This is our fourth staycation this year! πŸ˜€

_MG_9951

Grand Park Orchard is situated in the heart of town, right smack in the middle of where all the bustling activity is! Its strategic location makes it a very popular hotel choice among locals and tourists because there are so many shopping centres nearby. Do you know that the hot and half naked bodies of the A&F guys are just downstairs?!

_MG_9982

Lobby is on the 4th floor and Grand Park Orchard’s hotel ambassador had already positioned himself outside the lift, waiting to greet us with his dazzling smile. We were promptly showed to our room on level 9.

_MG_0335

We were given an ultra swanky room with high speed Internet access simply by logging in with my name and the password written on the card.

_MG_9883

Our 29 to 32sqm Premium Room was simply gorgeous! We love the floor-to-ceiling glass windows which gave the lofty room a more dramatic and posh feel. And not forgetting the artistic designer wall mural! <;3 – sure beats turning up to the office in downtown Singapore!

_MG_9888

A large glass window for your viewing pleasure. Oh no I meant that you could soak in the tub and watch TV at the same time! What a brilliant idea! πŸ˜‰

_MG_9886

Can the hotel be any more generous than this?! It’s as though someone went grocery shopping at the supermarket and picked up every single variety of fruit that she saw. If you like fruits, good for you! If you don’t, I’m very sure there must be something on that plate that you will fancy.

_MG_9887

_MG_0001

A handwritten welcome card from the General Manager, which is a really nice gesture πŸ™‚

_MG_9913

_MG_9992

The hubs was trying to use the hotel wifi while I continue snapping photos in our room.

_MG_9898

_MG_0197

Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion. All lavender! I like!

_MG_0198

Just about everything that you need, it’s in there.

_MG_9895

I was telling misterchewy that if the bath tub looks enticing enough, we could go shop for a nice shower gel for our bubble bath πŸ˜›

_MG_9897

_MG_9901

_MG_9903

I knew I didn’t have to worry about misterchewy feeling bored about being left alone because the reclining sofa (not sure what’s the exact term for it) looked really comfortable and he was already glued to the LCD TV.

_MG_9876

Oh let’s backtrack a bit. The hubs wore another set of clothing when we travelled to the hotel and he wanted to change into the set which I had picked out and packed for him. However, the shirt had some creases and I took the chance to use the iron and ironing board in our room to prove my caliber as a good wife. *AHEM*

_MG_9889

A quick look at the mini bar. Only the bottled water, tea and coffee are complimentary.

_MG_9891

The fridge certainly is very well-stocked with most of our favorite drinks in there!

_MG_9986

Takashimaya Shopping Centre is just across the street! I told you Grand Park Orchard’s location is awesome, didn’t I?

Grand Park Orchard Premier Room

The Chewys_Xmas tree

Our outfit of the day! Both our clothes were gotten during our recent trip to Bangkok. I wore a light yellow dip hem maxi dress and paired a metallic gold bangle to go along with it. Cheery colors! πŸ˜‰ The hubs is usually seen wearing jeans because he works as an engineer so I made him wear shorts this time. Totally love the white long sleeved shirt with navy blue anchor prints that I chose for him! πŸ˜€

_MG_9917

We were totally famished and decided walk over to Mandarin Gallery for late lunch at Ippudo because misterchewy was craving for ramen.

_MG_9928

_MG_9933

_MG_9931

_MG_9936

_MG_9973

We were walking around aimless and then misterchewy suggested that we go to *SCAPE to catch some toys! But nothing caught my eye πŸ™ Or am I too old for this? LOL.

_MG_9972

misterchewy_scape

*SCAPE is also one of the more popular locations for casual outdoor wedding photoshoot! I’m giving you people some ideas ok? πŸ˜› Oh yeah, misterchewy was carrying a Sephora paper bag because we bought a really sweeeeet smelling shower gel! πŸ˜‰

_MG_9977

Was tired from all that walking and decided to head back to our hotel room for a short rest before dinner. Took a mini tour around first. The gym faces the swimming pool so if you need some motivation on the treadmill, there you have it! πŸ˜›

_MG_9976

How nice and thoughtful of the hotel to supply gym goers with towels, bottled water and energy drinks. Yes the energy drinks are free!

_MG_9979

_MG_0294

_MG_0297

_MG_0291

Bar Canary is located right next to the pool.

_MG_0293

_MG_0299

_MG_0300

_MG_0021

I think I had stretched my walking limits and was really eager to head back. Sky was turning dark too, from what we see when we reached our room.

_MG_0024

_MG_0025

_MG_0018

LOL! The hubs was already waiting for me to turn around when I was done with taking photos and was waving at me from the toilet. He then proceeded to act as though he was surprised. -_-

_MG_0189

_MG_0102

Besides the hotel stay, we were also welcome to try the dinner buffet at Open House Restaurant.

_MG_0099

_MG_0031

Here’s a sneak peek!

_MG_0059

I will be sharing more about the dinner buffet at Open House in my next post πŸ˜‰

_MG_0103

After dinner, we decided to take a long leisurely stroll outside Grand Park Orchard and soak in the Christmas atmosphere! The entire Orchard Road lights up beautifully at night.

_MG_0106

_MG_0109

_MG_0112

_MG_0156

Time to chill out with some drinks at Bar Canary, which is located on the same floor as the lobby.

_MG_0158

_MG_0159

Shall tell you guys more about the drinks we had in the next post πŸ™‚

_MG_0196

Earlier in the day, we stopped by Sephora at Takashimaya and bought this Caramel Toffee bubble bath and shower gel. There were about 10 different ones for us to choose from. We smelled every single one and this is the one we liked best! Highly recommended if you and your partner like really sweet scent. A bottle costs only $15 and we used a third which was more than enough πŸ˜€

_MG_0310

The hotel provides bedroom slippers and bathrobes too. So there’s no need for you to pack your pyjamas along for your staycation! The bedroom slippers are of really good quality and very comfy too.

_MG_0309

_MG_0201

Good morning sunshine! We were supposed to wake up at 8am but overslept and woke up at 9plus instead! :O By the time we got dressed and reached Open House downstairs, it was nearly 10am. Good thing the buffet line closes at 11am during weekends! Phew! Hey, we both agreed that our bed was really way too comfortable and we had a really good night’s sleep! πŸ˜€

_MG_0223

_MG_0203

_MG_0225

Selection of bread and pastries are constantly being replenished. Everything is warm and toasty!

_MG_0210

_MG_0219

_MG_0220

This was misterchewy’s favorite station! We had scrambled and poached eggs.

_MG_0226

You can choose either plain or pork congee and various condiments are available.

_MG_0232

_MG_0239

Below are some of the a la carte buffet dishes that we had that morning. We were totally spoilt for choice and tried a bit from each station. My favorite dishes were the mee siam, eggs and waffles! πŸ˜€

After a hearty breakfast, we just wanted to laze in bed. Good thing it had been arranged for us to check out at 4pm instead! We borrowed Crazy Stupid Love DVD from the concierge at the lobby. There were many other movies but most were already loaned to other guests in the hotel. But it’s ok because I love romantic comedies! πŸ˜€

_MG_0314

We had not watched Crazy Stupid Love before and had a really good laugh at some of the scenes. Ryan Gosling is sooooo suave and hawt! *Drools* πŸ˜›

_MG_0319

The hubs continued to laze in bed and read soccer news on his iPad.

_MG_0321

Made a cup of Gryphon Earl Grey Lavender tea from the mini bar for myself!

_MG_0327

We found that a copy of The Sunday Times had been delivered to our room early in the morning. Decided to make myself comfortable on the reclining sofa and catch up on the news with my cup of hot tea in hand. πŸ™‚

The Chewys’ Genting Adrenaline Junkie Challenge 2012 (Part Two)

Sponsored Trip

DSC02741

Yippee! It’s Friday, chewy chewy peeps! As promised in my previous post, I will be sharing our Genting Adrenaline Junkie Challenge experience in greater detail with all of you! I had also mentioned that I was actually quite nervous about having to go through all the thrill rides, especially when we also had to perform additional tasks while at it! Oh wells, a challenge has to be challenging. A few days before the trip, curiosity got the better of me and I started googling ‘genting adrenaline junkie challenge’ to see if I could get any info from the web. And I did! One of the more informative blog posts was written by Malaysian blogger and celebrunner, Runwitme and reading her story certainly got me even more excited, and yes, more nervous as well! Imagine having to blow a balloon while you are on the rollercoaster?!

DSC02754

The husband looked a little perturbed. LOL. I don’t know why. Probably as afraid as me?

DSC02739

Btw, this is the view from our room. Took a couple of shots before we went down for breakfast πŸ™‚

DSC02752

DSC02747

Breakfast buffet was at First World Cafe.

DSC02743

The buffet line was quite miserable but we weren’t complaining because it’s not like we wanted to stuff ourselves with food before going on all the thrill rides!

DSC02763

After a quick breakfast, we adjourned to the Genting International Convention Centre (GICC) for our briefing which started at around 9.30am.

DSC02761

DSC02771

There were 19 pairs of participants and each pair formed a team. The hubs and I belonged to Team 18! And we had to paint our faces omg! I was like, “Don’t draw so big ok!”

DSC02765

DSC02773

IMG_2057

All of us had to step forward to ‘claim’ our map. Basically, it was kinda like Amazing Race. All 19 teams had to complete the nine stations/rides located in the indoor and outdoor theme parks. No skipping of stations was allowed; we had to get on the ride, complete the task, get the station marshal to sign on the map and collect a piece of the jigsaw puzzle before moving on to the next stop. All our routes were different so we didn’t have everybody rushing to the same place at the same time.

DSC02778

All hell broke loose the moment it was announced that the challenge had officially started! LOL! We were given two hours to complete all rides and return to the GICC.

DSC02787

Whoohoo! The Chewys are just about to unleash the adrenaline junkies in them! Hahaha. Some of the photos in this post were taken with my Sony compact camera, while the rest were taken by some of the RWG people. πŸ˜‰

DSC02780

Our first station was the Spinner! We were lucky because it’s situated just in front of the entrance of the outdoor theme park. Only one of us had to sit on the Spinner. Both misterchewy and I were given a card each and we had to count the number of stars! It sounds easy but it’s not! Didn’t take photo of the card but it was madness! I think I counted until I saw stars!

DSC02783

Spot the yawning dude!

IMG_2060

We had to total up our number of stars and shout out the answer but our answer was wrong. Hahaha! And we were made to sing twinkle twinkle little star at the top of our lungs as a forfeit!

DSC02791

Our second station as drawn on the map given to us was the Corkscrew. This was one of my most dreaded thrill rides. My legs turned into jelly and I think my face turned pale as we approached the ride.

IMG_2139

Each time I sat on a roller coaster, this is my most hated part.

IMG_2140

And this too! Lol. Ok la not that I always go for such thrill rides anyway.

IMG_2075

Guess what?! Only one from each team had to go up on the ride while the other was tasked to drink 100Plus from a milk bottle. LOL! The hubs displayed his heroic side when the marshal asked, “Who’s going to sit?” and he shouted “ME!” without any hesitation πŸ˜€

IMG_2078

If I had to come up with a caption, it would be “sucking while corkscrewing”. Lol! Was that what the organizers had in mind when they paired this task with this ride?! Anyway, all of us had to finish the bottle of 100Plus before the ride ended. So just imagine all the girls sucking really furiously. Omg tough job.

DSC02788

Oh yay! I was the first to finish the entire bottle! The marshal was really strict. We weren’t allowed to leave even a single drop. Hoho. The hubs did great too! He looked really refreshed after the ride, don’t you agree? Hahaha πŸ˜›

DSC02789

DSC02794

Our third station was the Flying Coaster. I can’t remember if I had tried this ride before but it did seem a little less scary than the Corkscrew.

DSC02795

We were given two tasks to do before we could go up on the ride. First, we had to find 10 ‘flying’ words in the puzzle given to us. We only managed to find 6 until the marshal told us the words could be broken up too, and then we found the remaining 4 very quickly. -_-

IMG_1743

For our second task, one of us had to memorize a tongue twister in 20 seconds. There were a few tongue twisters printed on cards and were laid face down for us to choose. After memorizing for 20 seconds, we had to pass it to our partner, take the Flying Coaster together, and repeat the tongue twister to the marshal.

IMG_1747

However, the ride had to be closed for 20 minutes for maintenance check so we were all made to hula hoop for at least 10 seconds. As you can see, misterchewy is a better hula hooper than me. LOLOLOL. I was the one who memorized the tongue twister and it went, “I saw a saw that could out saw any other saw I ever saw.” I had to memorize under pretty stressful conditions ok!

DSC02796

Next up, we headed to Snow World at the indoor theme park! I think during the 2010 challenge, the participants had to finish a cold drink and ice cream at Snow World. I also said that I would rather do this 100 times than having to go through the thrill rides. Read on to find out what happened..

P1010289

We were supposed to carry a tube up and slide down. When we reached the bottom, we had to pick an ice cream flavor as shown in the above photo. If you and your partner picks the same flavor, one would have to go up, slide down and draw again, until you get a different flavor.

DSC02799

The first time, misterchewy and I got chocolate. So he offered to carry the tube up and slide down again. Draws chocolate. Up and down. Chocolate again omg. And then finally vanilla. ARGH.

DSC02802

Our next task was to finish the 5 (4 chocolate and 1 vanilla) cups of ice cream in 45 seconds! IMPOSSIBRU.

DSC02807

P1010296

We were made to finish all the ice cream before we could proceed to the next station. Boohoohoo! I had a love-hate relationship with ice cream that day.

DSC02808

The Flying Dragon is also located at the indoor theme park. The indoor rides are very mild and suitable for kids.

DSC02809

Guess what. We had to solve Sudoku and everyone took really long to solve it! Also had to solve two mathematical questions each before the Flying Dragon ride and tell the marshal our answers when we got down.

DSC02793

Deng! Deng! Deng! Deng! Space Shot! I tried this before at Ocean Park in Hong Kong and Movie World in Gold Coast so I have somewhat more experience than misterchewy. Haha! But I was still having cold feet before the ride D:

IMG_2066

DSC02811

The station marshal flashed us some names which belonged to the Genting mascots and we had to memorize them before the Space Shot ride. I was quite confident that I could remember “Tabby, Allie, Bennie, Geno, Joe” but the moment I sat down and started to tremble, I forgot everything. “Geno.. Beno..” Wrong already la.

DSC02813

Almost wanted to cry when we were slowly taking off!

DSC02814

Forcing a weak smile but I was like NO I wanna get down now!

DSC02815

DSC02816

Ok the ride was really quite scary and we agreed that the second drop was scarier than the first. We made it anyway! πŸ˜€ We had a time penalty of 40 seconds I think because we couldn’t remember the mascots’ names. Lol.

DSC02817

IMG_1792

Our task for the Pirate Ship station was quite a funny one. Within each team, we had to decide who would be sitting on the fourth or last row. The one on the fourth row would be blindfolded and had to help his/her partner draw his/her lips with a lipstick!

IMG_1795

Not very obvious on misterchewy because we chose an orange lipstick. But it did give him a sexier look. LOL!

DSC02819

DSC02820

DSC02822

Oh yeah~ Oh yeah~ Our 9th and final stop was the Sungei Rejang Flume Ride! Both of us had a piece of napkin pegged to the collars of our shirts. Our task was to keep the napkins dry! Very easy because we could just zip our jackets. πŸ˜‰

DSC02824

We rushed back to the finishing point which was the GICC Hall.

DSC02836

Our map and completed jigsaw puzzle! Yay! πŸ˜€

Once again, a very big thank you to Resorts World Genting for the kind invitation!

The Chewys’ Genting Adrenaline Junkie Challenge 2012 (Part One)

Sponsored Trip

DSC02575

Wassup chewy chewy friends? A few weeks ago, I received an invitation from Resorts World Genting to participate in the Adrenline Junkie Challenge 2012. Resorts World Genting is located in Malaysia. We stay in the hotel near Kuala Lumpur. We search Expedia for great hotel deals. Oh boy, I was really thrilled because I could bring a partner along! Also, our transportation, accommodation and meals will be fully taken care of! In my mind, I was thinking, “OMG! I have always wanted to go to Genting with misterchewy!” Now that the opportunity has been presented to me, how could I pass it up? πŸ˜› BUT, there was a slight catch. This part of the email was enough to make my heart thump really quickly. “You will need to go through the exciting thrill rides at the theme park plus additional tasks while at it. Kindly note that, you partner must take part in the challenge.” *GULP* We are not exactly adrenline junkies or daredevils! Anyway, all photos were taken using my old Sony compact camera because I didn’t think it would be a wise idea to lug my DSLR around at the theme park.

DSC02578

We were told to board the coach at Singapore Press Holdings (Toa Payoh) at 12pm. Guess what? There were only 8 of us! 3 bloggers and their partners, plus two Lian He Wan Bao readers.

DSC02577

Genting appeals to me as one of the couple getaway destinations because it is not too far from Singapore (about 7 hours coach journey. Lol), a one or two night stay should be sufficient, love the cool weather, and there are indoor and outdoor theme parks! πŸ˜€ We were really excited the minute we got on the coach but I also started to worry about the challenge because we had to go up on all the thrill rides in order to complete it πŸ™ Oh wells, let’s not worry too much for now! πŸ™‚

DSC02586

DSC02581

Passports chopped! Wheeeee~!

DSC02588

Stopover for lunch! We already had ours with the in-laws before they sent us to SPH, so we sat somewhere and filled up our indemnity forms.

DSC02589

DSC02627

After what seemed like eternity.. We finally reached GENTING HIGHLANDS! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ It was around 7pm and we got there and I was freezing because I wore shorts. More comfortable to wear shorts on the bus mah. Hehe.

DSC02629

The PR folks from RWG, Oprah and JQ handed us our room card keys and Genting t-shirts that we had to wear the next day!

DSC02732

Walking to First World Hotel. My last time to Genting was many years ago but I could still vividly remember certain things.

DSC02734

We were told to deposit our bags into our rooms and gather at the lobby so that JQ and Oprah could take us to our dinner venue. This time, I made sure I changed into a pair of jeans! πŸ˜›

DSC02677

Dinner was at Coffee Terrace. We had to walk a little bit to get there but at least it was way better than the First World Cafe. There is an ice cream promotion for the month of December, which explains the cute ice cream balloons hanging from the ceiling. Haha πŸ˜›

DSC02664

We were pleasantly surprised when we stepped into the restaurant. Coffee Terrace seemed like quite a nice buffet place!

DSC02641

I think all of us Singapore bloggers went to whack the Japanese section first. Sashimi and sushi galore! πŸ˜€

DSC02678

After that, it was pretty much free and easy for everyone. Since we had to endure a 7-hour journey here, we couldn’t just head back to our hotel so early right?! The husband and I decided to walk around and check out the indoor theme park πŸ˜€

DSC02711

DSC02690

DSC02696

I jokingly said that we should go on one of the rides as a form of warming up exercise in preparation of the next day’s challenge!

DSC02701

DSC02705

Us in the front carriage of Euro Xpress! Of course not scary one la. But we pretended to be really scared and screamed all the way. LOL!

DSC02719

Checked out the casino next. Was quite surprised that nobody stopped me from taking photos. I’m assuming it’s ok?

DSC02720

DSC02721

DSC02723

It was just look look see see, we didn’t gamble. Anyway there were quite a number of smokers there so we left after a while.

Our room was located at First World Hotel’s Tower 2, on the 25th floor. When we were at the lobby, I asked misterchewy, “Our room is at which Tower ah? Tower 3 is it?” He replied, “Tower 3? You build yourself ah?” WIN. Bully me πŸ™

DSC02735

When misterchewy learned that we would be putting up at First World Hotel, he kept telling me about how small and cramped the rooms were and that there wasn’t sufficient space in the toilet for people to move around comfortably. However, he was quite impressed because the room was spacious with a couch beside the TV, and a bath tub in the toilet. Turns out that we were given the Superior Deluxe room πŸ˜€

Casmin’s Hens Night Party @ The Forbidden City by IndoChine!

IMG_1602

Last Friday night~ Yeah we danced on tabletops~ And we took too many shots~ Think we kissed but I forgot~ Sounds familiar? πŸ˜› We held a HENS NIGHT PARTY for our colleague, Casmin last Friday night! The party was at The Forbidden City by IndoChine, more specifically at Bar Cocoon on the ground floor. Before that, the ladies had a BBQ at our workplace while I was at a briefing for Goldkili & Frezfruta bloggers’ contest. Of course they showered after the BBQ and dressed up for the night! When we finally met outside IndoChine, Clarke Quay, it was 11-ish but the night was still young! πŸ˜‰

IMG_1603

Casmin, the Bride-to-be (BTB)! You will never be able to guess her age correctly on the first try! Super baby face! Anyway, I was really excited to be part of Casmin’s hens night entourage because I had never attended one before πŸ˜›

IMG_1604

With Casmin and Hui Shan! Hui Shan is a hot and sexy mother of a cute baby boy! πŸ˜›

IMG_1607

The rest of the ladies, Agnes, Shu Man, Angel and Katherine! πŸ™‚

IMG_1609

Apart from the BTB pink sash and tiara, Casmin was also made to put on this huge diamond ring!

IMG_1611

So cool right~ The ring actually lights up! Ok I shall let the pictures do most of the talking πŸ˜›

IMG_1617

IMG_1615

Uh huh. You must be wondering why was misterchewy present at the hens night party. He said he was worried about me and told me he would probably wait for me at McDonald’s or something and we could go home together after that. Really sweet of him considering that he had to wake up early to go to work the next day. The girls were kind enough to get him to join us! Hui Shan even whatsapped me that we have more than enough tiaras to go around >_<

IMG_1616

IMG_1624

We played a few rounds of “Guess the number of hands” drinking game. LOL Angel epic la! She kena so many times!

The girls decided to buy her a drink! Waterfall! Can someone tell me what’s the difference between a Waterfall and a Flaming Lamborghini?

IMG_1644

Well done babeeeee!! πŸ˜€

IMG_1650

I didn’t realize this until misterchewy told me that this is our first time ‘clubbing’ together! And never did the both of us expect that our first time together would be with my colleagues. Hahaha! Interesting~~ :DDD

IMG_1651

Thanks for taking care of me and staying by my side the entire night! <3

IMG_1652

IMG_1654

IMG_1657

And if I’m not wrong, the guys at IndoChine offered us another drink. I was made to drink too since I’m also a BTB. LOL. But I shared this with Casmin if not sure gone πŸ˜›

IMG_1688

Can’t remember if it was Angel or Casmin who requested us to take a kissing shot. Seemed like misterchewy was more than happy to do so while I was a little intoxicated to be able to resist. πŸ˜›

The rest of the night was like a blur. I don’t remember what I did. The hubby and I were the first ones to leave, at around 3am. Very fun hens night party experience for a first-timer! πŸ˜› Congrats to Casmin once again! Yay! Can’t wait for your big day to come! πŸ™‚

missuschewy’s Guide to Things to do in Resorts World Sentosa

Have you ever wondered, “Singapore is such a small and boring place. What is there to do?” I’m pretty sure most of us locals are always trying to find new and fun things to do during our free time, be it with friends or family members! Yes Singapore may be small, but it is definitely not boring. If you are clueless as to how to spend your free time or precious weekends in the most fulfilling manner, I have listed five things that you can do in Resorts World Sentosa!

45528_435072813747_1636612_n

1. Playing at Universal Studios Singapore

People of all ages will love Universal Studios Singapore. There are 7 zones to explore – Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, Lost World, Far Far Away and Madagascar. Thrill seekers should not miss out on the Battlestar Galactica, Revenge of the Mummy and Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure rides! Fuel up and recharge yourselves at the various dining spots. For those who want to bring home some souvenirs, there are also plenty of retail shops for you to do some shopping!

Candylicious Day 011

2. Shopping at Candylicious

Shopping for candies and chocolates is such a joyous thing to do and therefore, I strongly urge that all visitors of Resorts World Sentosa should stop by Candylicious! You don’t really need a valid excuse to stock up on those sweet treats or colorful collectible items.

Candylicious Day 052

3. Dining at Malaysian Food Street

If your agenda is to come and have loads of fun at Resorts World Sentosa, I don’t suppose many of you would be willing to spend a bomb on fine dining or contemporary dining. But if you are, some options would be L’Atelier de JoΓ«l Robuchon, Osia, Rang Mahal Pavillion and Forest. However, I would personally recommend Malaysian Food Street. Prices are very affordable and you can try plenty of Malaysian hawker dishes. Don’t forget to leave some stomach space for chendol and ice kachang!

4. Staycation at Festive Hotel

There are 6 different hotels in Resorts World Sentosa. While I have yet to check into any of them, Festive Hotel appeals to me the most. It is situated in the heart of RWS, which makes it a popular choice for families with children. With unique features, each hotel room is catered to both parents and children. For parents with babies, Festive Hotel offers cribs and babysitting service at a fee. The vibrant colors and cool interior of the rooms are totally calling out to me now.

5. Gaming at Casino

Owned and operated by Asia’s largest and oldest gaming operator, the casino at Resorts World Sentosa is one of the world’s newest gaming halls. It features a wide array of table games, slots and electronic games. As with most casinos around the world, the casino at RWS is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which makes it a great place if you enjoying playing in live casino poker games and also for you to work on your bluffing skills.

Happy Monday and have a great week ahead! Look forward to the weekend! πŸ˜‰

Colored My Hair RED and PURPLE @ ICON by Shunji Matsuo for our Wedding Photoshoot!

Outdoor shoot

TGIF chewy chewy friends! By the time you are reading this post, misterchewy and I are probably somewhere high up in the skies, on our way to The Land of Smiles! Yeah, Thailand, that’s right! πŸ˜› We are off to Bangkok to eat, shop, sightsee and enjoy the traditional Thai massage! This short getaway shall be our well-deserved break after our wedding photoshoot on Monday. It was a blardy exhausting whole day affair. Woke up at 7am and reached the studio before 10am. Indoor photoshoot started at around 11.30am and we had a quick lunch before moving off for our outdoor shoot slightly before 3pm. I know some people don’t like to pose for photos but misterchewy and I enjoyed it soooo much! Kinda unbelievable that the photoshoot actually turned out to be very fun! Our photographer (who I think kinda looks like Gary Chaw) was a barrel of laughs and we didn’t feel tensed or uneasy throughout the shoot. In fact, everything went very smoothly! πŸ˜€

ICON by Shunji Matsuo

Just for this shoot, I had to endure my irritating fringe for a few months because I was under the impression that my makeup artist (MUA) can create different hairstyles for me πŸ˜› I never had such long fringe before! It’s around my mouth level now anyway. I also ditched my yellowish highlights in exchange for red and purple hair! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Like I have mentioned before, I like to procrastinate and leave things till the last minute. Finally visited the salon a few days before the shoot, right after I got off from work. Was asking around for recommendations around Holland Village and dear Carrie from The Cambelles told me about ICON by Shunji Matsuo. Total damage was around $550 for two colors and Sherpa treatment. *Heartpain* Had to keep telling myself it’s justifiable for the shoot. Anyway my MUA kept saying the shade of purple is very ‘chio’. *Beams* πŸ˜€

at salon

I settled for purple because I was sick of having different shades of brown since the first time I colored my hair about 6 to 7 years ago but more importantly, I wanted something wild for our wedding photos πŸ˜› Chose a very dark shade of red to complement the purple because I didn’t wanna attract too much attention. LOL. Haha ya paradox lor I know. >_<

misterchewy

Hubby Chewy knocked off from work and accompanied me for the next 1 hour plus. The panorama photo of the salon was taken by him using iPhone 5! Actually most of the other photos in this post also la.

doing treatment

I don’t know what exactly is Sherpa treatment but I chose it because it was more expensive. Since I’m already spending money, might as well go for the best right? πŸ˜› Besides, my hair needs it! Long hair is very hard to maintain and my hair is very dry at the ends. *sob*

almost done

after

It was agonizing having to sit in the salon for close to 4 hours but I think it was worth it! How to go work like that? Aiya I only colored the inside, somewhere near the back of my neck. Don’t really know how to explain but nevermind.

Outdoor shoot 2

This is one of our looks for the shoot. Really happy and satisfied with our MUA because he knows exactly what I want! Too many people that we would like to thank – Our photographer, MUA, Katrina from Cold Rock Ice Creamery, The White Rabbit, Hans and Valerie from Backyard@Dempsey, Krist for my nails and also Maureen for helping out during the outdoor shoot. I posted a few sneak photos on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/missuschewy! We might be sharing updates on FB while we are at Bangkok as well, so keep a lookout! πŸ˜€

The Chewys’ Traditional Chinese Wedding Preparations

photo (9)

Yay! Hubby Chewy and I will be celebrating our First Year Wedding Anniversary come this Sunday, on 9th September! Our ROM was held at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel last year. We didn’t want to throw our customary wedding banquet on the same day, hence we chose another date, which we think has a pretty nice number combination! πŸ˜› Anyway, I reckon we are the world’s #1 procrastinating couple so I’ve decided to ‘chart our progress’ in terms of our customary wedding preparations here. πŸ˜›

Our Progress

– Booked pre-wedding photography package inclusive of makeup artist
– Decided on date of photoshoot
– Finalized our customary wedding banquet venue
– Confirmed AD photographer, additional photographer and videographer
– Selected our bridal gowns, evening gowns and groom suits (Round One fitting passed!)

Things to be done!

– Badly in need of new hair color before photoshoot in October (misterchewy too!)
– Bridal nails (probably can wait a couple of days before our shoot)
– Decide on photoshoot wedding venues
– Photoshoot theme
– Props for outdoor photoshoot
– Wedding dinner theme
– Considering instant prints photographer or mobile booth with props for wedding dinner
– What else?! What else did I forget?! I’m sure I must have left out many things! :O

Haha ok I think that’s about it for now! To all the other wedding couples, please feel free to give advice or recommendations! Thank you πŸ™‚

Gardens by the Bay: Dining at Pollen & Strolling at Flower Dome

_MG_7225-001

Ever since Pollen at Gardens by the Bay was first featured on the Sunday edition of The Straits Times, I had been hinting widely to misterchewy that yours truly was dying to go there. The boy got my ‘hint’ and arranged to treat me to a pre-birthday lunch! Well, if he didn’t get my big hint, he’s gonna get a hard knock on his head. LOL just kidding~ πŸ˜›

Flower Dome 003

The hubby had everything well-planned and we took a cab to Gardens by the Bay after checking out of Wanderlust Hotel. He made reservations for lunch a few days in advance and we had a buggy to pick us up at the entrance. It sure was a long way in! Super excited while we were on the buggy! πŸ˜€

_MG_7321

I think with all the hype going on, Pollen probably doesn’t need any more introduction from this humble blog. Ok but anyways, for the benefit of those who don’t already know, Pollen is the sister restaurant to Michelin-starred British chef Jason Atherton’s Pollen Street Social in London. Pollen sets itself to be a fine dining concept in Singapore which serves mainly Mediterranean-inspired modern European cuisine in casual ambience surrounded by temperate olive trees, herbs and vegetation. Do you know that every morning, the chefs at Pollen pick fresh herbs and vegetables from their own herb garden as ingredients for the dishes? πŸ˜€

_MG_7221-001

Fine dining is just not my cup of tea. I prefer a casual and relaxed dining atmosphere. Being tensed doesn’t allow me to enjoy my food, and the hefty price tag that comes with it would not be justifiable, no matter how mind-blowing the food is. This is my personal opinion of course. What about Pollen then? I would say that dining in a picturesque setting is a totally different experience all together! It’s kinda like alfresco dining in a majestic glass dome surrounded by beautiful flowers and greenery in this case! Like Alice in Wonderland at a Mad Hatter Tea Party! I don’t think it’s something you can easily get elsewhere πŸ˜‰

_MG_7191-001

Thanks to the hubby for doting on me! Hehehe! πŸ˜›

_MG_7198-001

Typical things that ‘tourists’ do. Just felt that I had to pose for a photo with Pollen’s menu. LOL.

_MG_7195-001

_MG_7200-001

Interestingly, the couple next to us was also celebrating the girl’s birthday! I’m not a stalker la but here’s her blog post! I was quite sure that she had to be at least a blogger, if not food blogger because her bf/husband remarked that he would have whatever she wasn’t planning to have. Hahaha! Guess what happened? All four of us had the Set Lunch ($55++). Both guys ordered exactly the same dishes and us ladies ate exactly the same too! Yup the starter, mains and desserts. Homaigawd.

_MG_7189-001

_MG_7203-001

_MG_7210-001

_MG_7216-001

I picked the Petunia Ocean Trout as my starter, which instantly reminded us of the citrus marinated salmon that we had at Pamplemousse. Served with oyster mayonnaise and pickled onion, this dish was faultless. I loved the presentation! Such a pretty flower πŸ™‚

_MG_7208-001

_MG_7220-001

For someone who generally prefers strong flavors, misterchewy seemed quite happy with his Slow Cooked Eggs with Patata Bravas. The fried potato cubes and crispy slices of chorizo went quite well with the spicy tomato sauce. Plus biting into the egg was sheer delight, as can be seen from the hubby’s facial expressions.

_MG_7235-001

You should be able to estimate the size of the Roasted Pork Belly if you compare it against the size of the beans. Heh. Yeah set lunch mah, whaddaya expect? πŸ˜› The pork belly was really good, very tender with a slightly chewy bite. And if I didn’t remember wrongly, the cut was actually quite lean.

_MG_7231-001

My John Dory was unexceptional, nothing to shout about. The seafood bisque veloute was way too salty but I finished it up nevertheless.

_MG_7255-001

Isn’t misterchewy’s dessert choice of Coconut Mousse, Rhubarb Broth, Goat Cheese Ice Cream prettaaaay? The sweet coconut mousse complemented the sourish rhubarb perfectly and the goat cheese ice cream though subtle, could be an acquired taste. We liked it very much! πŸ™‚

_MG_7248-001

_MG_7252-001

My Beetroot Sorbet with Chocolate Mousse was served on a rock. Yes a ROCK! Haha. The waiter told us that a few customers actually asked if the rock is also part of the dessert and whether it can be eaten. Lololol. A rather refreshing mix of tart and sweet flavors in this one. The eating experience was a fun one though, trying to lick the rock clean. Heh.

_MG_7241

A birthday gift from Pollen! Very exquisite chocolate! I have never tasted anything like this before πŸ˜€

_MG_7258-001

Since misterchewy made reservations at Pollen, the entrance fee to Flower Dome was waived. This made our lunch at Pollen a rather good deal considering that we saved $12 per person on the admission fee πŸ˜›

_MG_7265-001

There is a lift within Pollen and we were shown up to the Flower Dome. Good thing we were there on a Monday because there wasn’t much of a crowd. But I made a wrong decision of not bringing my camera charger to charge my DSLR during the staycation πŸ™ Camera was running on low battery thus some of the shots that you see later on were taken with the hubby’s Canon IXUS.

Flower Dome 011

Taking a stroll at Flower Dome is a very cool affair! Hahaha no pun intended. It is a very nice feeling to have the sun shining down on you but in a cool and moist climate. Almost feels like experiencing winter in a foreign country! πŸ˜€

Little Green Pot: Make & Fill a Terrarium With Love For Him/Her!

_MG_6871

This blog would not be what it is today, if not for meeting and subsequently having misterchewy in my life. Just a couple of months ago, a nice reader dropped me a message on FB. J said that he’s a passive reader who doesn’t usually write to any blogs he reads. He remarked that mine is more than just a food blog, which tells readers stories of misterchewy and myself. J was initially captivated by the nice food photos (which I think have lotsa room for improvement!) and then he found that the romantic and loving relationship that misterchewy and I share is truly inpiring to him. πŸ™‚ J is not the one and only reader who has shared his thoughts about my blog with me and I really appreciate all these heartfelt messages that I get from readers from time to time πŸ™‚

_MG_6873

You may or may not have noticed that I have placed some of the popular non-food related blog posts on the right side of my blog. I will tidy things up when I have the time to do so and update along the way. Actually, I have been wanting to do this for the longest time but I’m a #1 procrastinator. LOL. Anyway, I’m quite sure that most couples, whether married or not, face the same questions like we do. “Where to go?” and “What to do?”

_MG_6875

Hubby Chewy and I are always trying to find new activities to do together instead of the usual ‘eat, shop, watch movies, repeat’ routine. As promised in my Wanderlust birthday staycation post, I will be sharing more about the Terrarium workshop that misterchewy and I attended. At first, I wanted to sign ourselves up for a baking or cooking class but most classes were already full since it was a very last minute ‘research’ on my part. I didn’t know what gave me the idea but terrariums popped into my head suddenly and the next thing I knew, payment was settled that Friday night and our workshop was on Sunday afternoon πŸ™‚

_MG_6876

The idea of having a terrarium appeals to me because it’s like having a mini garden in a bottle. Isn’t it very cool? I googled “Terrarium Workshop Singapore” and the first result that showed up was Little Green Pot. They conduct workshops once to twice a month. Luck was definitely on our side because they had one on 29th July, which is the date we checked into Wanderlust Hotel! Better still, got vacancies! The workshop was conducted in a small classroom at Hougang. Materials had already been laid out for us. For those who are keen to know, the workshop cost us $24 each, inclusive of materials. Very reasonable price! πŸ™‚

_MG_6878

These are the essential ‘ingredients’ that you need in order to build a terrarium. There was this auntie who actually brought colored sand to class! Her terrarium ended up looking really pretty!

_MG_6879

Hahaha this might sound really cheesy because all of us were essentially making the same thing but I told misterchewy that we should filling the terrarium for each other! So he picked the glass bottle with a pink ribbon for me, and I chose a blue ribboned one for him πŸ˜›

_MG_6885

Hehehe yup this is for misterchewy! It’s more meaningful that way, don’t you think so? πŸ˜‰

_MG_6889

Sorry I’m not good with the names of plants but anyway, there were about 3 types for us to choose from and we had to pluck a small pit from the pot and transfer them to our own terrarium.

_MG_6891

_MG_6894

_MG_6896

Pouring in the colored pebbles. Almost there!

_MG_6898

Lastly, we got to choose a cute little animal to be placed inside our terrariums. Just nice, we spotted that the camels were the only ones that came in blue and pink! Hahaha.

_MG_6900

_MG_6903

Our instructor, KC, went round watering our plants for the entire class. He reminded everyone that terrariums are ‘low maintenance’ but keep in mind but that doesn’t equate to ‘no maintenance’. We only need to water them about once every six months! πŸ˜€

_MG_6906

This is how the terrarium looks like when it condenses. It shows that the ecosystem is normal so there’s nothing to worry about! πŸ™‚

Hope everyone enjoyed reading our post and be inspired to fill a terrarium with love for your significant other too! πŸ˜‰ If you don’t feel like making one on your own, you can also choose to buy them off the shelves. Other than Little Green Pot, you can also get ready-made terrariums from The Plant Story, My Eco Tree and Hedge Garden. Note that I’m not sponsored in any way, just doing everyone a favor! πŸ˜› Have fun ya! πŸ˜€
