Silhouette Soft Face Threadlift by La Clinic

Edited-5

Reality sets in once you reach your 30s and you cannot help but notice signs of aging. Just by looking at someone’s face, you can somewhat estimate his or her age. We look at ourselves in the mirror every single day and you know that your skin is aging when you start to notice that your cheeks are less plump, eyelids are drooping and fine lines appear around your face.

Edited-6

The one thing that had been bothering me for a long time was my nasolabial folds, also known as laugh lines. When I was much younger, laugh lines sounded pretty cool to me as I thought that only people who were truly happy and laughed a lot would have these lines on their faces. Now that I have these laugh lines, I’m worried and horrified at the same time. In fact, I had done face fillers in the past but the effects did not last long enough for me.

Edited-14

I had a fruitful consultation session with Dr Rachel Ho of La Clinic who graduated from the National University of Singapore and was a recipient of multiple awards including the Dean’s List for multiple years. She has a special interest in minimally invasive treatments for anti-aging and enhancement of facial aesthetics. Dr Rachel Ho regularly attends local and international conferences to stay at forefront of the latest trends and advancements in anti-aging and aesthetic medicine. She believes that one can age beautifully and gracefully by combining healthy lifestyle habits with medical aesthetic treatments.

Edited-7

After examining my face closely and determining what needs to be addressed, Dr Rachel Ho suggested a face threadlift using Silhouette Soft threads as a solution to my problems of saggy cheeks and nasolabial folds (laugh lines). Firstly, it is important to know that it the Silhouette Soft face threadlift is US FDA approved to treat face sagging, nasolabial folds and marionette lines. The Silhouette Soft Threadlift is an anti-aging treatment that helps to restore one’s youth by repositioning, providing volume, and stimulating lost collagen production in the face. The threads for Silhouette Soft face threadlift are bio-absorbable sutures that are made of poly L-lactic acid (PLLA). There are various types of threads for face threadlifts available in the market and what makes the Silhouette Soft face threadlift unique is that these threads are lined with bidirectional cones, instead of sharp barbs. The results achieved would be softer, more natural and lasts longer with Silhouette Soft face threadlift, compared to other face threadlifts.

To top it all off, the PLLA threads help to stimulate collagen in the skin after the procedure, giving the face threadlift a gradual lifting effect which can last over a year.

Edited-28

Before the face threadlift, my face was thoroughly cleansed and Dr Rachel Ho began to mark out the insertion points for the face threadlift on my face before she proceeded to inject local anaesthesia. Dr Rachel Ho was careful to make sure my face was sufficiently numb before starting the Silhouette Soft face threadlift. The entire procedure took about half an hour or less; no wonder it’s called a “lunchtime facelift”.

Edited-47

There was minimal pain and it was the pulling and tugging of the threads under my skin that made me feel weird.

Untitled

The results from the Silhouette Soft face threadlift are instantaneous. As this treatment is minimally invasive, it leaves no scars and has only very minimal downtime, depending on individuals. One look in the mirror and I could tell that my nasolabial folds had disappeared (GASP!!), my cheek plumped up and my jaw line much more defined. I would go as far as to say that the Silhouette Soft face threadlift had helped me to achieve a V-shaped face too!

Dr Rachel Ho took great care to prescribe me with some oral antibiotics and cream to apply. I could still go about my daily chores and eat all my favorite food, except that I had to refrain from alcohol for a week as it would cause even more bruising.

Besides the cheeks, Silhouette Soft face threadlift can also be carried out on different areas of the face such as jaw line, eyebrow, neck, mid face area, as well as contours of the face. Silhouette Soft face threadlift works best for people over the age of 30 because of its dual lift-and-collagen-regenerating effect. Besides the immediate and discreet lifting, Silhouette Soft face threadlift promotes the restoration of lost collagen, which ultimately gives gradual and natural looking results over time.

Holiday pic

It has been more than 2 months since my Silhouette Soft face threadlift and I can only say that the results get better with time! If you would like to find out more about the treatment, do arrange for a consultation session with Dr Rachel Ho!

Dr Rachel Ho has a written a detailed explanation on face threadlifts and the Silhouette Soft threadlifts on her blog here.

Mini Siam Pattaya

Untitled

After visiting The Sanctuary of Truth on the second day of our Pattaya trip, it started to pour while we were in the taxi and so, we had to seek shelter from a nearby McDonald’s. Just nice it was lunch, so we took our time to enjoy our food while patiently waiting for the rain to stop. We then made our way to Mini Siam! I had planned The Sanctuary of Truth and Mini Siam on the same day as these two are located within close proximity, just a 10-minute drive by car.

Untitled

Mini Siam is a very interesting place as you will get to see miniature landmarks from around the world! There weren’t many people when we visited and I’m so glad that we brought our tripod along to capture some family shots.

Untitled

There are also some cute elements that you can find at Mini Siam. Nobody wants to be the 7th dwarf! LOL.

Untitled

Hahaha are these imitation Hello Kitty and Doraemon?! Nevertheless, the girls were thrilled to see them. Actually me too!

Untitled

Don’t they look like they own this house?

Untitled

Marvel heroes in disguise. The kids were chasing after each other in the background when we were taking these photos.

Untitled

OMG this reminds me of our Japan trip in 2016! We had visited the Fujiko.F.Fujio Museum (also known as Doraemon Museum) back then.

Untitled

The girls were super tickled to see these tiny zebras and idk what are those two black things. Hippos or sheep i cant tell?

Untitled

Untitled

I couldn’t believe it but they were doing some kinda slow dance, maybe cha cha or tango lol.

The Sanctuary of Truth Pattaya

Untitled

We visited two places on the second day of our Pattaya trip and The Sanctuary of Truth was one of them. Walked quite a distance from our Homeaway accommodation to this cafe called Good Farmer Homemade for breakfast as misterchewy found many positive online reviews.

Untitled

We actually felt that the food was mediocre and slightly on the pricier side by Thailand standards. It was a good experience nevertheless. From Good Farmer Homemade, we took a Grab taxi to The Sanctuary of Truth. Journey was about 20 minutes or so.

Untitled

When we reached, we were above ground level and could not see the entire wooden architecture as it was partially blocked from view. We had to descend a long flight of steps. Ladies are reminded to dress appropriately as a means of respect. Due to hot weather, I wore shorts and had to rent a piece of cloth to be wrapped around my legs before I could enter the grounds.

Untitled

Mandatory shot with the signage.

Untitled

Our first agenda at The Sanctuary of Truth – horse carriage riding!

Untitled

The girls enjoyed the ride and were shrieking in delight, especially when the horse picked up speed. It was a nice experience admiring the magnificent wooden architecture while riding on the horse.

Untitled

There was restoration work being carried out during our visit and all visitors were provided with helmets to put on as a safety precaution.

Untitled

Untitled

The weather was quite hot so we cooled with with some coconut drink and ice cream by the river.

Untitled

Untitled

The boat ride is also another highly recommended activity at The Sanctuary of Truth. The kids were particularly thrilled that we could feed the fishes with coconut flesh!

Untitled

Untitled

Paid 20 baht (less than SGD $1) for a bunch of grass so that we could feed the two horses before leaving The Sanctuary of Truth. Animal feeding is actually quite therapeutic!

Swiss Sheep Farm Pattaya

Untitled

If you had read my earlier post on our Pattaya trip outline, you would know that we spent our first day at Swiss Sheep Farm Pattaya! I know it sounds crazy that we took a 6am flight out of Singapore but it’s not as though we had not done anything like this before. Haha! We just wanted to make the most out of our short trip!

Untitled

From our Homeaway accommodation at Jomtien area, it took us about 30 minutes to reach Swiss Sheep Farm by car. The beautiful, charming and rustic Swiss-inspired architecture make Swiss Sheep Farm a nice place to visit if you enjoy taking photos. Besides that, there are many animals which you can feed at the farm.

Untitled

The weather wasn’t the most ideal throughout our entire trip and it even rained on our way to the farm. Thankfully, it wasn’t raining when we reached but the skies were quite gloomy.

Untitled

Untitled

I got our tickets via Klook. Definitely very convenient as I simply flashed the voucher (in the form of a QR code) on my mobile phone and we managed to get in without any hiccups.

Untitled

Look at these cute alpacas! All busy munching grass except for one!

Untitled

I swear that I actually thought these goats were statues because there were completely still for a few minutes, until one of them turned its head ever so slightly.

Untitled

The kids were so delighted that we got to see the goats up close but this was only the beginning!

Untitled

Untitled

Little misschewy saw some grass lying around and couldnt resist feeding the goats.

Untitled

Initially, we had thought that these goats were the only animals that we would be feeding and spent quite some time there until one of the workers gestured that there were MORE waiting to be fed. LOL. Look at all these sheep!

Untitled

Little misschewy was really enthusiastic about feeding the animals because when she had finished giving out all the grass, she went round picking more from the ground! The admission ticket comes with a coupon which you can exchange for a handful of grass. Additional animal food such as milk and carrots can be purchased separately at a small fee.

Untitled

This sheep really very garang! It jumped over the fence and sort of chased after us. Little misschewy was really brave and calm, while I ran away screaming like a mad woman, with a bunch of grass in my hand.

Untitled

Isn’t the horse cute? Looked like it was smiling ya?

Untitled

I’m not sure if they rotate the horses for “horse riding duties” lol but this horse was the one and only one at the Horse Station.

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

It was roughly a 10-minute ride and the route includes crossing a bridge before looping back.

Untitled

Untitled

Apart from interacting with the animals, we also had fun taking photos at various spots at the farm! It was a good and bad thing that there weren’t many people at the farm. Good because you get nice photos without any “extras” in the frame, and bad because it’s so hard to find someone to help you with group shots! We only had three family shots! Highly recommend you bring a selfie stick or a tripod.

There were really many nice spots for photo-taking at Swiss Sheep Farm but the kids started to show signs of fatigue, hence we decided to call it a day. We also stopped by the souvenir shop to get some magnets before leaving!

The Top 10 Beaches in Phuket

phuket 1

Phuket, located in the Andaman Sea, is the largest island in Thailand and one of the top beach holiday destinations in the world. With copious amounts of white-sand beaches, surrounded by aquamarine seas, Phuket has everything a beach lover could possibly ask for.

For those researching what to do in Phuket, there are an almost endless array of activities. From nature and wildlife tours to a lively nightlife scene, it’s all too easy to indulge in. That said, as great as the variety of experiences offered in Phuket is, it’s really all about the beaches. Here’s my pick of the top 10 beaches in Phuket.

Freedom Beach

Only accessible by boat, unless you fancy trekking through over a kilometre of dense jungle, Freedom Beach is undoubtedly one of the prettiest and most unspoiled beaches in Phuket. The quickest way to get there is on a longtail boat from Patong Beach. Once you’ve arrived and are enjoying the peace and quiet, you’ll realise it was well worth the effort.

Patong Beach

Patong is Phuket’s most popular beach. While it isn’t the quietest of beaches, it’s a great choice if you’re looking for somewhere to play and party. During the day you can snorkel, rent jet skis or chill in the sun with a drink. Come evening, switch to party mode and head to one of the many bars, restaurants and nightclubs that Patong has to offer. If the neon lights of nearby Bangla Road really appeal, then Patong could well be the beach for you.

Kamala Beach

For a slightly slower pace of life, try Kamala Beach, just north of Patong. This palm tree lined beach, spanning two kilometres, could not be more different to the lights and noise of Patong Beach, offering all the quiet and relaxation you simply won’t find on its more raucous neighbour. Even in high season, this beach never gets too busy and there isn’t the constant revolving door of tourists you often get in Patong and some other parts of Phuket.

Kata Beach

Kata Beach is popular amongst tourists who come to Phuket, but at 1.5 kilometres long, there’s more than enough room for everyone. This beach is a paradise, just not a secluded one. There are plenty of hotels, shops and places to grab a bite in nearby, so if you prefer to stay where the action is, but without having to put up with the hustle and bustle of Phuket’s busier beaches, Kata could be for you.

phuket 2

Kata Noi Beach

Located to the south of the larger Kata Beach, Kata Noi is quieter than its more popular neighbour. Exceptionally clear blue waters make it an ideal snorkeling location, while during the monsoon, the waves are perfect for surfers. The beach has an isolated feel, yet there are a couple of resorts and restaurants nearby, if you’re looking for a bit more action.

Pansea Beach

Pansea is a small, secluded beach situated on the west coast of Phuket. It’s almost impossible to get to, unless you’re staying at one of the two resorts that share the beachfront. This gives the beach even more allure. If your budget can stretch to a room at the Amanpuri Resort though, you’ll have the opportunity to relax on the pearly white sands and swim in the turquoise waters of this truly sensational beach.

Nai Thon Beach

As part of Sirinath National Park, Nai Thon Beach has managed to avoid much of the over-development that many of Phuket’s other beaches have undergone, making it a great choice if you’re looking for some peace and quiet, away from the big resorts. In fact, Nai Thon Beach is the antithesis of over-development, with just a few small hotels and restaurants nearby.

Surin Beach

Surin Beach could be described as an exclusive version of Patong Beach, with luxury resorts and million-dollar houses perched on the hills that overlook the sea. It doesn’t feel like a big seaside resort, but rather, maintains a coastal village atmosphere. The fine, white sand on the beach slopes away steeply, quickly turning from shallow into deep water, making Surin a great swimming destination.

Laem Singh Beach

Located between Kamala and Surin beaches and tucked away within a steep-sided bay, Laem Singh Beach is a picture-perfect Thai beach. It’s just one of the reasons it’s become an increasingly popular beach in recent years, particularly for those looking to swim and snorkel in its clear blue waters. Despite this, scenic Laem Singh has lost none of its charisma.

phuket 3

Nai Harn Beach

To the south of Phuket is Nai Harn Beach, a popular beach destination that has managed to avoid over-development, thanks, in part, to much of the surrounding land being owned by Samnak Song Monastery. With only a few hotels, restaurants and shops in the area, it maintains its quiet charm. Ideal for swimming and snorkeling from November to April, the currents become much stronger between May to October, making it more suited to surfers and kite-borders.

4D3N Pattaya Trip with Klook Travel

Untitled

Can you guys believe it? We are almost done with the first half of 2018! Fellow mummies and daddies, please give yourselves a pat on the back because you have worked hard and sacrificed for your family. If anything, you totally deserve a break and go on a holiday with your loved ones this summer! Trust me, you don’t have to travel far to have a shiok overseas trip. The Chewys flew to Pattaya for a short 4D3N getaway and we came back fully recharged! Pattaya has always struck me as a beach place with nothing but water sports activities but boy, was I wrong. Even though Pattaya is known as a resort city in Thailand, there are actually plenty of kid-friendly activities that you can plan, which I will cover in this blog post 🙂 It was a total breeze for us as we booked our airport transfers and activities via Klook Travel, Asia’s largest travel services booking platform with over 35000 activities.

PATTAYA DAY ONE

Untitled

Prior to departing Singapore, I received an email with very clear instructions as to where to locate the Klook staff and upon touching down at Suvarnabhumi Airport, we boarded the van without any delays. We also received our data SIM cards from our driver without having to go through the hassle of queuing at the booth. It is especially crucial for us that we reach Pattaya in the shortest possible time since we were travelling with two young children and thankfully, the journey was a smooth one!

Book your airport transfer here.

Untitled

After checking into our accommodation, we took a short break before visiting Swiss Sheep Farm Pattaya. I’m glad we made this our one and only activity for the first day of our trip so that we could take our time to explore the farm.

Untitled

The kids were so excited to see the animals up close too!

Untitled

The cost of the admission ticket also includes food for the animals and Little misschewy just couldn’t get enough of feeding the goat, sheep and horses!

Untitled

Apart from animal feeding, Little misschewy totally digged the horse ride!

Untitled

Book your tickets for Swiss Sheep Farm Pattaya here.

PATTAYA DAY TWO

Untitled

We visited The Sanctuary of Truth, a religious all-wood construction. Apart from appreciating the beauty of the intricate Thai architecture, we were surprised that there were quite a number of activities to make your trip worthwhile.

Untitled

It was the girls’ first time on a horse carriage ride and they were shrieking in excitement. As for me, I enjoyed admiring the beauty of the temple as the horse galloped away.

Untitled

Book your tickets for The Sanctuary of Truth here.

Untitled

In the afteroon, we headed to Pattaya Mini Siam, which is located near The Sanctuary of Truth, hence I planned these two destinations on the same day. The place was relatively empty, much to our surprise. At Mini Siam, you get to experience Thailand and Europe all in one place.

Untitled

Plenty of photo opportunities and I’m glad we brought our tripod along to capture these precious moments! If you enjoy taking photos, be prepared to spend at least two hours there. Book your tickets for Pattaya Mini Siam here.

PATTAYA DAY THREE

Untitled

We decided to take things nice and slow, hence we dedicated one full day to visiting Khao Kheow Open Zoo. It is not called an OPEN ZOO for nothing. Some of the animals are left to roam about rather freely and visitors have the opportunity to interact with them.

Untitled

Khao Kheow Open Zoo certainly feels different from any other zoos, which is a pretty eye-opening experience for us! The zoo is quite big, so it’s highly recommended that you rent a buggy there to minimize exploring on foot, or arrange a private driver to take you around the premises. Book your tickets for Khao Kheow Open Zoo here.

PATTAYA DAY FOUR

Untitled

Before checking out of our accommodation, we managed to squeeze in a visit to Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya, which is a must-visit if you and your children love teddy bears!

Untitled

There are various zones with over 2000 teddy bears! We had so much fun posing for photos with the bears at the museum. Book your tickets for Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya here.

How to have a glamourous staycation in Singapore

Photo by Someformofhuman / CC BY 3.0

As Dorothy in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ once said, “There is no place like home”. And for me, Singapore is my home, and there certainly is no place like it. It has it all—great people, incredible architecture and, of course, wonderful food. You don’t always have to venture far from home to enjoy a fantastic, short break, and Singapore is an ideal place to do just that.

If you are looking for a luxurious staycation, then Singapore will not disappoint. There are lots of incredible hotels and other accommodations to choose from. One of the most popular choices is the sumptuous Marina Bay. Why not take a dip in the impeccably-designed infinity pool located on the 57th floor, where you can swim whilst feeling like you are on top of the world? There are some incredible buildings in Singapore to admire during your staycation, like Parkview Square, which was a design collaboration between Singapore’s DP Architects and James Adams Design of the USA. This building has a real Art Deco vibe and is also home to a great gin bar that stocks hundreds of rare or limited edition gins.

If you enjoy shopping, you are unlikely to return home emptyhanded, thanks to the vast variety of shops in Singapore. Whether you favour independent, quirky outlets where you can find the most adorable vintage items or prefer luxury designer labels, there is really something for every discerning taste. You may need to pop into the likes of Orchard Road to pick up an additional Louis Vuitton suitcase to take it all home!

Eating is a huge part of a staycation in Singapore, and if you adore street food, a visit to the Balestier Road is an absolute must. If you want to indulge your sweet tooth, then check out Janice Wong’s 2am:dessertbar, where you can enjoy delightful dishes like a praline chocolate poprocks cake—amazing!

If you are looking for a great night out, you could enjoy a cruise on the water underneath the stars. Or if you prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground, why not head back to the Marina Bay where you can take advantage of over 500 gaming tables and over 1600 slot machines? One of the games you can expect to play in the casino is Texas Hold’em, which has become one of the world’s most popular poker modalities. Attaining a good technique is key, so you might want to familiarise yourself with Texas Hold’em rules to have the best possible five-card hand.

From day all the way through the night, you can expect your time in Singapore to be action-packed and full of fun. Whether you are on a romantic break away with your beau or spending time with your most fabulous friends, Singapore will provide you with a break that you are unlikely to forget. Why not make some brand-new memories and visit one of the world’s most exciting summer destinations?

Mother’s Day Photoshoot by ChicChug Creations

misschewy_mothersday-4

On Sunday, we went for a Mother’s Day photoshoot with ChicChug Creations, a lifestyle home based studio located along Gangsa Road. The name ChicChug was inspired by a simple old way of making a shutter sound when the older generation improvised a camera shape with their fingers before they said “Chit-Chuck”.

misschewy_mothersday-13

Wayne and Geraldine, photographer husband and wife duo specialise in newborn, baby, maternity, cake smash and family lifestyle photography in Singapore. They place strong emphasis on the importance of storytelling and emotion, capturing the intimate relationships between couples and among family members.

misschewy_mothersday-1

For this Mother’s Day mini photoshoot session, the floral setup is done by Le Fairy Meadow. It is classic and elegant, which is very befitting of a Mother’s Day celebration.

misschewy_mothersday-2

I was initially worried that the girls would be cranky because they did not manage to nap before the shoot. Thankfully, they warmed up really quickly as Geraldine was good with kids and they kept smiling as Wayne fired away on his camera. I’m sure having plenty of professional experience helps too! I have never seen the kids being so cooperative before!
