OSIM uMagic: The World’s First Magic Hands Technology

Advertorial

DSCF6890

I’m not afraid to admit that I cannot live without my iPhone. It’s the first thing I greet every morning and the last before I go to bed at night. It has to be with me 24/7 (except when I’m taking a shower of course) and I find myself constantly texting friends and loved ones, replying tons of emails and also checking out social media updates on Facebook and Instagram. Alarm bells started to ring when I realized my fingers becoming numb after excessive usage of my phone! It was then that I knew I had to give my fingers a break. It was quite worrying, so I decided to find out more about it online.

DSCF6894-001

Apparently, I was suffering from ‘Text Neck’, a global epidemic resulting from widespread overuse of handheld devices, causing repeated stress on your neck while looking down at the screens! I was shocked that the strain on my neck actually travelled all the way down to my fingers! Not only that, I face the computer for hours on end at work. I know that instead of adopting a good sitting posture, I’m so used to hunching over, which further strains the muscles on my neck and shoulders. At times, I go home with a bad headache, or neck and back pain. To further aggravate my problem, I have to take care of Chanelle when I reach home from work and she weighs about 10kg now! She’s not even learning how to walk yet, so I have to carry her in my arms and boy, I can really feel the additional strain on my back and shoulders! Sometimes I find myself lamenting to misterchewy that I seriously need to sign up for a massage package and beat myself back into shape but who am I kidding? I cannot stand some stranger touching me, let alone give me a massage for 60 minutes. I tried getting misterchewy to massage my shoulders but obviously, he’s not trained to do good job (hehe.. sorry hubby!).

Application Shot_06

After years of innovative massage technology, OSIM’s latest massage chair, uMagic, is the perfect solution to ease the tight and tense muscles around our head and shoulders. OSIM uMagic offers massage movements similar to a masseur’s hands with finger pressure and grip to relieve aching neck and shoulders.

A32A6304

I put uMagic’s signature ‘Magic Moments’ program to the test and viola! If I’m not allowed to use the word SHIOK, I would say that it feels MAGICAL. Why magical? I was treated to a powerful, deep-tissue massage with life-like hand movements by OSIM uMagic! The patented hand-grip massage is the world’s first Magic Hands massage technology, designed to extract and relieve deep-seated muscle aches and tension especially around the neck and shoulders with its 7 levels of protrusion.

A32A6305

I also tried another uMagic’s signature program, ‘Shoulder Delight’, which is specially designed for quick relief of neck and shoulder ache by devoting 80% of uMagic’s unique hand-grip massage technique attending to the neck and shoulders and 20% for loosening tension and stiffness on the lower back. Unlike the conventional massage chairs that massages the bones of the shoulder blades without providing much relief, which is pretty much superficial, I could really feel the uMagic easing the tension of the muscles of my neck and shoulders. After 15 minutes on the uMagic, I walked away feeling liberated!

A32A6356

Besides the above mentioned signature programs, the OSIM uMagic also has an extensive suite of Lifestyle Massage Programs that are tailored to satisfy the diverse needs and well-being of the family. For instance, ‘Chill Out’ provides head-to-toe pampering to unwind and relax the body and mind, ‘Lumbar Care’ maintains a healthy back by loosening lower back tension, while ‘Sports Recovery’ promotes relaxation and recovery of muscles used in sports, and many more. As you can see, the types of massages provided are very diverse and there is something for everyone!

Application Shot_08

I was deeply impressed upon learning that users can even download new massage programs into the OSIM Massage Chair App on their devices and transfer them into the OSIM uMagic! This is certainly very value for money!

Beauty Shot_03 with Cropping Guide

One other thing which struck me was how elegant and sophisticated the OSIM uMagic is. Prior to this, I was under the impression that massage chairs were bulky, dull and boring; something which I would never want to have in my house. The uMagic exudes classiness and is incredibly sexy, with its streamlined design and polished chrome plated curvatures. Gotta love the quilted and modern weave inspired leatherette. I would say that the uMagic is certainly a beautiful piece of art! Apart from that, the foot massager can be fully retracted under the seat to provide more living space. When extended completely, it can be used as a calves-ankles-feet massager for a more holistic massage. Impressive!

A32A6343

If you are like me, who suffer from neck and back aches all the time, I urge you to experience OSIM’s Magic Hands massage technology at any OSIM outlet! Your muscles will thank me, or rather the OSIM uMagic after that 😉
The OSIM uMagic retails at a special introductory price of $4988 (UP $5288). It is available at all OSIM outlets, road shows and online at www.OSIM.com

The Chewys’ Hong Kong Trip Video!

During our recent trip to Hong Kong, we took some videos just for the fun of it and decided to compile the snippets together to depict our entire vacation! Both misterchewy and I don’t have any prior experience with video editing and stuff, so it took us quite a while to figure things out. Hehehe please bear with us because we know that this video is very amateurish but we reckon it’s a nice change to be able to document our trip in a different manner. Having said that, do look out for the photos that we will still be posting on this space soon!

Recently I was invited to try a website called ShopBack, which is a cashback website that gives you rebates for buying through them. When you buy through their website, they get commission from the brands, which they split with you as cash rebates! It’s pretty useful because they have websites like Expedia and Agoda, which means I can get cashback rebates for hotels or flights next time. Enjoy and happy hump day! 🙂

Nuffnang’s 8th Birthday Bash!

DSCF6098

Helloooooo everyone! *Waves* Lol. Sorry la I was really busy (as usual, with what I also duno lol) and didn’t have time to blog about this earlier. I joined Nuffnang this year and was invited to Nuffnang’s 8th Birthday bash on 14th March! Needless to say, I was very excited about being able to meet so many popular bloggers whom I look up to. YES, one of them is Xiaxue! I swear this was the FIRST photo taken that day. Quite paisey so I dragged Phoebe to take photo tgt. Hehehe. Anyway I didn’t dare to talk to Xiaxue cuz I was afraid that I would say something to make myself sound stupid. T_T

DSCF6102

The party was held at Da Paolo Bistro Bar at Rochester. Damn the place was kinda tricky to locate if you are travelling by car. My parents sent me there and we kept going around in circles! O_O Very flustered that I was like 10 minutes late lol but got people arrived much later then me. We were told to dress up in white, gold or silver! Busy me being busy, anyhowly bought a champagne gold dress from Zalora. Haha! It was the only size available and it was a little loose on me, but I was damn glad that I could fit into it.

Little misschewy’s One Year Old Photoshoot + Cake Smash

Charlene_020

WHOOHOO! Little misschewy is ONE year old today! Knowing that it will take about a month to receive the photos, kiasu mummy planned a photoshoot way in advance! Chanelle was slightly over 11 months old when these photos were taken. Based on past experiences, we kinda knew what to do and ‘forced’ her to take about an hour long nap before the photoshoot. We timed it quite well such that the instant she woke up, we chionged to the studio without wasting any time. LOL. I had also warmed up a bottle of milk and brought it along with us. Just before we commenced the shoot, she finished the entire bottle. Eat full full, sleep full full! Half the battle is won! I must say that misterchewy and I are pretty satisfied with the photos! 😀

Charlene_009

I was trying to suppress my laughter upon seeing Chanelle’s reaction when she saw her own reflection in the mirror. She kept inching forward until her face touched the mirror! Anyway, we topped up to get back all the softcopies. The ones posted here are some of my favorites.

Hello surfer girl!

Charlene_073

Charlene_075

When I learned about the cake smash idea months ago, I thought it was really interesting and I was excited about it! The whole idea behind it is to celebrate your baby’s first year by letting your baby have a first taste of his or her own birthday cake!

Charlene_078

Look how happy Chanelle is! I would like to sincerely thank BakeAvenue for sponsoring us this gorgeous pink giant cupcake! When I first saw it, I was like… WOW!!! BakeAvenue specializes in rainbow and ombre cakes, as well as macarons in various shapes and sizes! I ordered some macarons and cupcakes from BakeAvenue for Chanelle’s birthday party and I will cover that in a separate post!

Charlene_080

Charlene_083

Chanelle’s reaction towards the giant cupcake was priceless. At first, she was indifferent to cake. She looked at it but didn’t reach out to touch it. Then she crawled around it and finally, patted it very cautiously. Yes, she PATTED the cake.

Charlene_084

Confusion written all over her face when she had butter cream on her fingers!

Charlene_086

And then she felt scared. Like.. What is this thing on my fingers?! (At that point, I kinda suspected that she’s a cleanliness freak like me.)

Charlene_094

Chanelle was only willing to lick her fingers after I wiped a bit of butter cream on her lips.

The Chewys’ First Family Trip to Phuket

IMG_9236

WHOOHOO! In mid January, The Chewys went for our first vacation of 2015 and it was also our very first family trip with Little misschewy! We have always wanted to bring Chanelle overseas, especially after our last trip to Taiwan without her. It was a huge mistake back then when we booked our air tickets during my third trimester, thinking that we needed to spend some couple time without the baby immediately after my confinement! Needless to say, we missed Chanelle terribly during the trip and swore to ourselves, never again. Fast forward a few months later, we felt that Chanelle is ready and is quite adaptable, and as parents, we are also pretty confident about bringing her overseas. However, we weren’t sure how she would fare for the first flight so we decided to be safe and chose Phuket as our holiday destination because of its close proximity and also, we wanted a relaxing time at one of the Phuket villas. 🙂

_MG_5354

And so, the day came. We were very excited and a little bit nervous. Had to take a photo at the Departure gate before bidding my in-laws goodbye!

IMG_9221

We flew with Singapore Airlines for obvious reasons. Didn’t manage to get bassinet seats for the flight to Phuket so the hubs and I took turns to let Chanelle sit on our laps with the infant seat belt securely fastened. A family wefie before take off! 🙂

IMG_9226

In no time, we were high high up in the sky! The curious girl peeped out of the window a few times. Chanelle was tired, yet she wasn’t exhausted enough to fall asleep on her own. She fussed and cried a little, but was soon entertained by a Caucasian couple sitting behind us.

IMG_9232

Slept as soon as the plane touched down!

IMG_9233

Our resort quoted us 1300 Thai Baht (THB) for a one way trip via a Toyoto Camry from the airport, which is about 50 SGD. I found it exorbitant for what is estimated to be a 30 minute car ride and didn’t proceed with the transport reservation. We couldn’t believe what we saw upon stepping out of the airport. Taxi meter! We asked for an estimate and were quoted 700 THB including 100 THB airport surcharge. Hurray!

_MG_5415

Little misschewy slept soundly throughout the entire journey and woke up promptly when we reached the resort of our choice – The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa! I joined the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) programme late last year and decided to stay at one of the Starwood properties for this trip. Out of the 3 resorts currently available, we decided to stay at The Westin Siray Bay because the private beach appealed to us.

_MG_5586

We received a very warm welcome as soon as we got off the taxi. If my memory doesn’t fail me, we were each served a refreshing glass of orange juice topped with crushed ice as a welcome drink. Certainly needed one to cool off in the sweltering heat!

_MG_5583

Situated on the exclusive east coast of Phuket, The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket offers a rejuvenating tropical haven overlooking the magnificent Siray Bay with all you need to be at your best. This luxury five star resort boasts contemporary design and the renowned warm Thai culture, welcoming guests into this respite of tropical elegance. The resort is just minutes away from Phuket Town, cultural attractions, local markets, restaurants and shopping.

IMG_5587

The Westin Siray Bay Resort is quite big, hence a buggy is required to get around the resort, especially if you room is located a distance away from the reception or restaurants.

_MG_5414

Each of the 257 contemporary guestrooms, suites and pool villas offers ocean views of Siray Bay. We were really lucky that our room was upgraded to a Sala Pool Villa!

_MG_5456

_MG_5405 We were really ecstatic!

_MG_5393

_MG_5391

Our pool villa was definitely the epitome of comfort and coziness! The hubs and I couldn’t stop gasping at this and that, and behaved like little kids. LOL.

_MG_5365

_MG_5372

_MG_5374

_MG_5371

_MG_5381

The Westin’s signature Heavenly® Bed.

_MG_5385

Here’s a glimpse of our bathroom. _MG_5382

We didn’t use the tub at all because it was impossible with Chanelle around. Haha!

_MG_5408

The Westin is very generous with their bath amenities! They have almost everything!

_MG_5389

_MG_5410

The resort’s mini bar items are chargeable, except for bottled water with tags. They are pretty generous with the bottled water! We found at least 6 bottles in our room and they are stocked daily.

_MG_5411

_MG_5412

The mini fridge does not have a freezer compartment so I left my freezing panels for my cooler bag with the resort’s kitchen. The drinks inside the fridge are not complimentary.

IMG_9243

Sooo.. What did we have planned for our first day in Phuket? Nothing! Just wanted to take a dip in our very own private pool! Chanelle was like.. Mummy can you please hurry up I wanna play with water NAO. Hahaha! Just look at that face.

_MG_5546

DSCF3433

DSCF3439

Chanelle enjoyed the pool so much that we felt bad carrying her out of the water >_<

_MG_5418

We were invited to a cocktail reception at one of the restaurants at the resort, EEST, where we enjoyed free flow drinks and canapes! It was very nice of the hotel managers (I think) to mingle with guests and it made us feel right at home. We hung around for about 15 minutes before moving off to our dinner venue within the resort.

_MG_5443

Dinner was at Prego by the Beach. SPG members are entitled to 15% off! Here, you will find Italian cuisine served in a fun, lively and lighthearted atmosphere featuring an open kitchen and bar overlooking the beach.

_MG_5426

_MG_5440

_MG_5441

_MG_5439

_MG_5435

_MG_5432

Honestly, I wouldn’t say that the food was fantastic. In fact, my risotto was way too salty. After dinner, we headed back to our pool villa via the buggy and called it a night!

_MG_5451

I can’t remember what time it was when I sneaked out in the morning to snap the sunrise. I was too sleepy to linger any longer and crawled back to the comfy bed.

IMG_9272

It was the hubs’ turn to take this photo while Chanelle and I were still sound asleep. When the little bub woke up, we went for a casual photoshoot within the compounds of the resort and had to skip breakfast. Will share photos in another post! 🙂

_MG_5459

Little misschewy was simply too exhausted after the photoshoot and fell asleep. Both misterchewy and I were feeling ravenous so we didn’t hesitate to call room service to deliver food to us!

IMG_9277

Phad Thai and Minced Basil Pork with rice! Sooooo yummy! The food was also surprisingly quite cheap but we didn’t order more stuff to share because we were planning to go to Patong! The resort provides shuttle bus service to Phuket Town and Patong Beach at a small fee of THB100 and THB200 per person per way.

IMG_5561

As soon as the little one woke up from her nap, we went around to take some photos by the pool before the shuttle bus came to pick us up. _MG_5464

_MG_5473

_MG_5572

_MG_5579

_MG_5478

IMG_9280

On the shuttle bus! The journey took almost an hour because of the heavy traffic.

_MG_5480

We were dropped off at Jungceylon which is a shopping mall but we were not very keen to shop there even though it was air conditioned and a great respite from the heat. Didn’t know how to walk to Patong Beach so we took a taxi and paid another THB 200 for the short journey.

_MG_5484

_MG_5485

IMG_9290

You know what? It’s actually a pretty bad idea to go to Patong Beach with a baby in tow. Firstly, you cannot enjoy any of the sea sports activities and secondly, the weather is too hot, making it quite ridiculous for you to babywear your child. We had to cool off at the air conditioned food court nearby! Good thing there is free wifi there.

IMG_9286

_MG_5488

There was nothing for us to buy at Patong, save for a couple of souvenirs. Decided to have dinner around the area before returning to our resort.

IMG_9293

I don’t usually drink coconut but when I do, I make sure I take a selfie. LOLLLL.

IMG_9297

IMG_9312

Yeehah! Chanelle’s first tuk tuk ride! 🙂 _MG_5518

Kaab Gluay Restaurant is located further north of Patong beach, along 58/3 Phrabaramee Road. This is one of the places that we had shortlisted from our online research. If we had known that Kaab Gluay doesn’t have a proper high chair for babies, we definitely wouldn’t have come here. It was tough having to take turns to eat!

_MG_5509

_MG_5515

As I’m writing this, I can’t believe we travelled all the way there just to eat 3 dishes! 🙁

_MG_5498

Phad Thai with seafood.

_MG_5501

Green Curry with chicken.

_MG_5506

Tom Yum Soup with seafood.

Even though we only had three dishes to share, we were really full by the time we were done. Food was exemplary and well worth the visit! Highly recommended! On a side note, the tom yum was fiery hot and I developed a sore throat overnight for wiping the entire bowl clean! The hubs only had a few mouthfuls because he can’t take spicy food.

IMG_9316

_MG_5526

Our last night in Phuket! IMG_9329

The next morning, I told the hubs that we must let Chanelle have another round of fun in the pool before leaving the resort!

IMG_9327

_MG_5537

It was a quick one before we prepared ourselves for breakfast!

_MG_5567

_MG_5564

_MG_5563

The breakfast buffet spread was quite sumptuous! IMG_9342

Our check-out was smooth. This time, our journey to the airport cost us THB 1000 which is slightly more than what we paid for to travel from the airport to our resort, inclusive of airport surcharge. The rate was quoted by the resort so we had to go along with it.

IMG_9350

Chanelle fell asleep while she was latching, even before the plane took off! #achievementunlocked

IMG_9352

Our light sleeper woke up when food was being served. Didn’t have a choice but to place her in the bassinet so that we could eat in peace!

IMG_9357

Papa and mummy are so glad that you enjoyed your first overseas trip, darling!

_MG_5603

Hope you guys had a good time reading about our holiday experience with a baby in tow! Happy Chinese New Year and HUAT AH! Stay connected with us on Facebook www.facebook.com/missuschewy and on Instagram @missuschewy and @misterchewy 🙂

Eyebrow Embroidery at Browtisan by Coco

Sponsored Review

photo 2

Ever since my very first eyebrow embroidery experience at Browtisan two weeks ago, my self confidence shot through the roof. Believe it or not, I’m someone who practically have no eyebrows. If I were to step out of the house without any basic makeup, I still have to draw my eyebrows. It is something I don’t enjoy doing because I am unable to master the art of drawing perfect eyebrows. Thanks to Browtisan, my life changed for the better!

10561689_858410170844761_1328115368251307760_n

Browtisan stems from the word Brow and Artisan, which is a name coined to reflect the skills and artistry of its ultra-specialised subset of aestheticians. Even though Browtisan is a young brand, the person at the helm is Coco, a veteran in the brow and facial grooming industry. Besides having more than 20 years of experience in this industry, Coco constantly develops new techniques and trains aspiring aestheticians in the art of brow crafting. Many of her trainees have also gone on to be entrepreneurs of their own salons. With the intention of pursuing her long-term dream of having her own salon and to create a new standard in the industry, Coco decided to embark on her own business. Her dream was finally materialized after months of efforts when Browtisan finally had its soft opening in October 2014. I am also full of admiration for Coco when I learned that she provides complimentary eyebrow embroidery services to cancer patients to boost their self confidence.

_MG_4743

Upon my arrival, Coco introduced herself and I was subsequently offered a cup of tea and ushered to a comfortable seat. Coco then explained that eyebrow embroidery is a semi-permanent procedure done on the superficial layer of the skin and lasts around 2 to 4 years (depending on your skin type), unlike eyebrow tattoo which allows ink to penetrate deep into our skin and is rather permanent. Coco carefully assessed my facial features and decided that my eyebrows cannot be too thin and I need a little arch because my face is quite round while my forehead is a little high.

_MG_4747

Coco proceeded to apply anesthetic cream on my eyebrows and then used 3M™ Tegaderm™ Transparent Film Dressing so that the numbing cream can be better absorbed into the skin. The numbing process took about 15 to 20 minutes. It is also the best time to visit the washroom if you need to, before the actual eyebrow embroidery process begins!

_MG_4763

_MG_4766

_MG_4767

Can you see that my eyebrows are almost non existent?!

_MG_4775

Before designing my eyebrow shape, Coco helped to remove stray hair around my eyebrows.

_MG_4782

The designing process took a much longer time as Coco is very meticulous and has a keen eye for detail. She made sure that both eyebrows are of the same length, thickness and shape. Coco’s professionalism made me feel confident that she will do a splendid job on my eyebrows and I was right!

_MG_4790

I was so happy with my new eyebrow design that I could walk out just like that! But no, more had to be done.

_MG_4799

After being led into a room, I had to don a robe and a shower cap so that my hair wouldn’t get in the way. I was also given pillow to hug in case I felt any discomfort during the process. To be honest, I was very very nervous because the idea of a blade scrapping against my skin was way too intimidating.

_MG_4802

A first in the industry, Browtisan combines Creative Eyebrow Techniques, high clinical standards and hygiene with the latest Swiss microscopic amplification technology. Surprisingly, the cutting process was rather painless. Besides making every single eyebrow stroke more refined, accurate, detailed and most importantly – painless, hygienic and professionally done, Browtisan also ensurse that their premises are sterilized with infrared technology for the highest level of hygiene.

_MG_4809

I could only hear the sound of the blade scrapping against my skin but after a while, it didn’t bother me anymore. I got too comfortable and almost fell asleep! Ink was being rubbed into my eyebrows so that the color can be absorbed.

_MG_4811

_MG_4825

Now I can finally tell everyone that I love my eyebrows! There are no side effects from doing eyebrow embroidery. I can still breastfeed and also eat seafood and raw fish. However, I was told not to let my eyebrows touch water for at least 5 days and had to use the transparent film dressing which can be bought at Watsons whenever I wanted to wash my face.

photo 1

Totally loving my new eyebrows! They look really natural and best of all, I don’t have to draw my own eyebrows anymore!

_MG_4837

A big thank you to Coco for changing my life! Eyebrow embroidery at Browtisan starts from $1380 onwards and includes one touch up session. Quote “MISSUSCHEWY” to enjoy 10% off the usual price, till 31 December 2014.

I felt at ease immediately and was surprised when Jacquelyn handed me a drink and asked me to select a movie on Toggle as my form of entertainment throughout the 2-hour session.

After my nails had been shaped and buffed, I was asked to select my base colors. Soooo many colors to choose from! I narrowed down to bright and happy colors of course! I also told Jacquelyn what kinda nail art design I had in mind.

Trick Eye Museum Singapore Plus Giveaway!

Art of Love

Wassup everyone! I had a super duper fun filled long weekend at Trick Eye Museum Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa! The name “Trick Eye” comes from the shortened form of the term Trick of the eye and refers to an art technique that turns two-dimensional paintings into three-dimensional images. It is through the use of optical illusions that three-dimensional paintings on the surfaces of the museum walls, floors and ceilings come alive. The museum offers various themed galleries where visitors are more than welcome to be part of the creative experience and are encouraged to explore with their eyes, hands and cameras too.

There are many artworks at the museum which are perfect interaction between parent and children, which makes Trick Eye Museum the latest family-friendly attraction in Singapore. Apart from family outings, it is also a great place for double dates too! So glad that we asked PR and J along, and we had double the fun! 🙂 Hope you enjoy the photos that we took and please take part in our giveaway contest!

Alive Museum Singapore Review

IMG_4837

Guess who’s back! 😀 The hubs touched down on Monday at around 2am while my FIL and I waited for about an hour at the airport because of the flight delay. But it’s ok! Was super looking forward to misterchewy’s return after 18 days of his absence. Despite not having enough rest, we headed to Alive Museum at Suntec City before noon because my ticket was valid only till that day. I was supposed to join my colleagues after our teambuilding session at LaserOPS which happened like a month ago but I had to rush back home. Almost forgot about my ticket until I was clearing my wallet. This is one of my favorite photos taken at the Alive Museum! I would advise ladies to wear shorts or jeans because there would be plenty of sitting, squatting and lying down for crazy and wacky shots! 😛

There were a couple of exhibits right outside Alive Museum that you can pose with even without an entrance ticket. We had an appointment in the afternoon so we kinda rushed through a little. It was just snap and go without wasting too much time. Anyway, do you know that there is free WiFi access in the museum? You can upload your phtos on the go!

Alive Museum is Singapore’s brand new fun and entertainment destination which is suitable for people of all ages. Sprawling over 10,000 square feet, more than 80 artwork exhibits are brought ALIVE with 3D painting, shading and drawing techniques that create visual illusions. Not only will visitors be able to experience magical ideas in reality by touching and watching objects, they will also be part of the masterpiece!

Hehe ok that’s all! Adult tickets cost $25 and there’s a 20% discount for online booking at the moment. I find that it is kinda pricey given that Alive Museum isn’t really such a big scale exhibition. However, if you are around Suntec City area and have a couple of hours to kill, do pop by and have a good time!
