With a Pinch of Salt: Step in and smile! :D

Towards the end of every month, Chewy Charles and I would get all excited when it comes to deciding where we should celebrate our mini milestones achievement. Originally, we had about three to four places in mind and after much consideration, we settled for this cutesy and colorful cafe! πŸ™‚

We were both very excited, so much so that we completely forgot about making reservations -__-”’ Having to travel to the east took up a fair bit of time and upon reaching With A Pinch Of Salt, we were dumbfounded that there was a private function going on. Luckily for us, we only had to wait for about ten minutes before the cafe was open for business.

We were first given a menu without photos, just words. It’s the exact same menu that is available on their website. After 3 minutes of browsing, one of the staff slipped us a folder full of photos of their dishes. Hahaha. Believe me, it made a huge difference in whetting our appetites. Nice.

It might not look like much but it was quite a big spread and we just couldn’t wait to tuck in! Nom! Nom! Nom! πŸ˜€

I really wanted to try the Porky Goes Banana but Chewy Charles didn’t quite take to the idea of eating chopped up bananas with bacon. We had the Cheesy Fries ($6.90) instead. Hoo boy, the plate of crispy golden fries with melted cheese was just huge. I grew up having KFC’s cheese fries. Well, in a way. Right here at With a Pinch of Salt, I love how the specks of chilli added a slightly spicy touch to the fries πŸ™‚

The boy simply loves his fried food and was very tempted by what In the Farm Yard ($14.90) had to offer. I reckon that the assortment of crispy chicken wings, chipolatas, nuggets, onion rings and wedges would be good for sharing among three people or more. Chewy Charles claimed that the wings were actually quite good.

Honestly, I had a very tough time deciding what to order. I just wanted to try everything on the menu. Haha! πŸ˜› I finally settled for Mdm Chicken Roulade ($10.90) considering that it is a somewhat healthier choice than fried food. The chicken thigh was rolled around and stuffed with shiitake mushrooms. Do you have any idea how much I love mushrooms? Shiitake, enoki and portobello are my favorites! The chicken was marinated with herbs and spices and drenched with delicious mushroom sauce. On the overall, Mdm Chicken Roulade was quite tender and juicy, but it was also a little dry and tough on the outside. However, I didn’t regret my choice! πŸ™‚

We shared the Creme Caramel ($2.90) which was dirt cheap. Haha. It was actually quite small and did not look like much but it was totally awesome! One of the best I have ever had! This was further confirmed by Chewy Charles’ trademark “WOW!” after his first mouthful. The custard base was quite rich. Although we were quite full, finishing this up was no mean feat.

I guess With a Pinch of Salt wants its patrons to take this cafe with a pinch of salt. Psst.. We like to color coordinate! πŸ˜‰

  1. I think for the Chicken Roulade, Miss Clarity Cafe does a better rendition. I think it’s called Chicken Ballotine. But I’m not sure whether the standard is still as good. It’s been such a long time since I went back! Their desserts at here are generally very affordable. You should try out their bread & butter pudding (at dessert counter, not in menu) and molten lava cake which is pretty decent in my opinion, considering the price and with molten center!

    • Ooh i have been to Miss Clarity Cafe too! But that was like 4 years ago so i cant remember what i had πŸ˜› Yup it’s a very wallet-friendly place! Anyway thanks, Chewy Charles is very happy to hear that πŸ˜€

  2. Heys i was just about to say, the decor does look a little like miss clarity, no?

P.s. Ditto on finding the combination of bananas and bacon a little weird sounding! But then again, who knows, it may just work~

Speaking of mushrooms, I love them too! My favourite’s the porcini mushroom followed by the chanterelle mushroom!

And yes, the two of you are such an adoring couple~

    • Hehe yup it does, but Miss Clarity looks very girly with its pink interiors. U sure u ok with it, glenn? πŸ˜› Haha cheers to our love for mushrooms! Yeah we are THE favorite couple right? πŸ˜‰
