Seasons in Europe are turning from summer to fall this time of the year while here in Southeast Asia the tropical climate is relatively unchanged. Although the temperature gets a bit cooler when September sets in, it’s hardly comparable to the chill that autumn brings. Still, this doesn’t mean that we cannot pull off Autumn/Winter beauty trends from the Milan Fashion Week, especially since these looks are not exclusive to fair skin and cold temperatures. Most looks are doable and wearable, regardless of our olive skintone. Besides, cosmetics which are making the rounds in London, Paris, and New York are actually Asian made—this is part of the East-meets-West cultural movement. MSN’s beauty blog Primped even stated that Asian skincare products will account for almost 70% of total skincare growth in the world within the next four years.

Here in Singapore, coined as Southeast Asia’s entertainment and cultural center, we are not left behind when it comes to fashion and beauty trends. If you head out to Marina Bay Sands you’ll see the ladies casually sporting the newest knitwear from M&S while walking with ease in Steve Madden platforms. Makeup is no exception; we try to keep abreast of the newest fads on cosmetics, and adapt them in order to look fabulous. Here are the relevant makeup trends from Milan as reported by ElleUK.com:

· Old Hollywood Theme – sultry feline eye, burgundy-colored lips, and clean matte skin, flattering for all skin tones
· Midnight Eyes – you have to blend the lines of the smoky eye to come up with this look; keep the lips nude and peach
· Autumn Glow – based on contoured cheekbones, brushed brows, and lightly stained lips
· Berry Look – soften edges of berry-coloured lips with cotton buds; opt for peach shade for eye shadow, without using mascara
· Copper Tint – matte skin finish and nude lips to focus on the eyes, which should be highlighted with cocoa brown eyeshadow under the eye and eye socket
