Going on a virtual date on MapleStory!

Florian Beach

Hellooo chewys! Today I’m gonna share something different. I had mentioned in my previous post that misterchewy had dengue fever and was stuck at home for more than a week. On the last few days of his medical leave, his platelet count showed a steady increase, his appetite resumed back to normal and he wasn’t feeling as lethargic as before. However, as he was still supposed to be resting at home, we went on a virtual date instead! 😀 Acting on his doctor’s advice, I stayed at my parents’s place because dengue fever can be spread if a mosquito bites a person with dengue, gets infected with the disease, and goes on to bite another person. How scary! :S

Drake

We were very sad that we couldn’t meet each other for more than a week and kept in touch through video call at night. Hehe. I would feel bad attending tastings or events while misterchewy had to suffer at home so I spent time playing MapleStory during weekends and after work 😛

Attacking drakes

When the husband felt that he didn’t really have to lie in bed all day, he started playing MapleStory too! In fact, he levelled up way too fast in one day and even helped me to train my character when I was at work. LOL!

It’s important to be on par with each other so that we can whack monsters together! My character looks a little retarded in the video cuz I was using one hand to play and the other to take video la.

LusterPixie

This is the current look of our characters! Cute right! 😀

Halloween

We even went on a Halloween quest together! It was really fun to do something different for a change. Best of all, it’s practically free! So this is another dating idea for all you couples out there! 😛

Evian Baby and Me

Hello chewys! Sorry for the lack of updates because I was bitten by the lazy bug. Haha. Anyway, I believe most of you will not find this unfamiliar. I saw this Evian Live Young commercial a few times. Can’t remember if I saw this on TV or in the cinemas. Goldfish memory.. I won’t get tired of watching this over and over again. It’s super cute! 😀

missuschewy evian baby

I have already posted this on my Instgram and Facebook but decided to share it here on my blog. Recently I saw a few of my friends posting their own Evian baby pictures and I decided to download the app too! You can choose the skin color and the type of eyes for your Evian baby. I was tickled when my Evian baby was ‘produced’ because she’s quite cute but I don’t know how the pigtails came about. LOL.

misterchewy evian baby

Decided to try it on behalf of misterchewy and his Evian baby is waaaaay cuter! No fair!
Download it for yourself and have fun! Stay connected with us on Facebook www.facebook.com/missuschewy and on Instagram @missuschewy 😉

The Chewys’ Europe Honeymoon Trip: Day 12 in Switzerland/Zurich

Zurich

Hello chewys! Here’s a relatively shorter travelogue on day 12 of our honeymoon trip spent in Zurich, Switzerland. The husband booked a half day city tour, which we felt wasn’t really necessary. LOL. Waste money only. It’s not that difficult to navigate around Zurich, at least that’s what I feel cuz misterchewy’s sense of direction and navigations skills are quite good 😛

_MG_4618

As the city tour was scheduled to start only in the afternoon, we took a leisurely stroll from our hotel in search of breakfast before doing a bit of shopping.

_MG_4622

We walked damn far before spotting Bäckerei Walter Buchmann! *Heaves a sigh of relief* The pastries were really good but mine was too sweet and misterchewy helped me finish it up. 😛

_MG_4668

Love shopping? You gotta stop by Bahnhofstrasse, one of the world’s most expensive and exclusive shopping avenues. You will find various luxury brands and also shops selling jewellery and watches.

_MG_4625

_MG_4628

_MG_4635

_MG_4641

Lake Zurich is behind me!

_MG_4634

_MG_4643

_MG_4648

Asked misterchewy to help me carry my bag while I adjust the camera on the tripod. Got the metrosexual look or not? LOL.

_MG_4654

We went into the Grossmünster, a Romanesque-style Protestant church and is one of the three major churches in Zurich. Photography is not allowed inside the church.

_MG_4657

_MG_4661

Looks like a piece of vandalism done by someone who was trying to be funny. It says, “Human Charger”. LOL.

_MG_4675

We walked to Sihlquai Bus Terminal for the afternoon city tour and our first stop was Zurich Harbour. Look closely, do you spot the word “Sentosa” anywhere in this photo? 😛

IMG_4684

Next, we took the cogwheel train!

IMG_4689

IMG_4690

_MG_4700

Passed by The Dolder Grand which is a 5 star luxury-class City Resort. The rates of a superior double room start from at least about SGD800 per night. We were told that many celebrities stay in this hotel. There were some female teenagers seen hiding in the lorry, apparently waiting to mob their idols. Haha.

_MG_4707

Back at Lake Zurich! Told you that we didn’t need the city tour 😛

_MG_4709

_MG_4711

_MG_4722

Ok to be fair, this experience of sailing across Lake Zurich was quite a novel one because cars, vans and coaches were also being ferried! The other tour members were also very excited and hurriedly got off the coach to snap photos.

IMG_4712

IMG_4715

IMG_4716

IMG_4719

_MG_4721

_MG_4723-horz

We continued to Adliswil for an aerial cable car ride to Felsenegg at 800m and the ride was quite steep. Someone asked the tour guide what if the cable car stops halfway, to which the tour guide replied, “Don’t worry it’s made in Switzerland” and everyone laughed albeit a little nervously. Hahaha.

_MG_4728-horz

_MG_4733

The tour ended and we scrambled to find somewhere to settle our dinner! Decided on Restaurant Swiss Chuchi because misterchewy wanted to eat cheese fondue and rosti 😀

_MG_4739

We chose to sit outdoors for that shiok factor eating hot cheese fondue in the cold!

_MG_4741

Ordered a cheese fondue, raclette rosti and two bottles of Erdinger! Our fondue contained wine. Really shiokkk! 😛

_MG_4742

_MG_4745

_MG_4746-horz

_MG_4753

We were really satisfied with our awesome dinner and walked back to our hotel! Stay tuned to our next post on Jungfraujoch! Connect with us on Facebook www.missuschewy.com and on Instagram @missuschewy and @misterchewy 🙂

Embark on an Auspicious Epicurean Journey with Park Hotel Group this Chinese New Year!

Tasting Invite

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 013

Chinese New Year is just around the corner! Wish everyone Gong Xi Fa Cai in advance! 😛 I was invited by Park Hotel Group to usher in the year of the Snake with them at Grand Park City Hall and I asked my bff/bridesmaid, Bee along. We were treated to a Lunar New Year lunch feast at Park Palace, which is situated on level 2 of the hotel. I didn’t have much time to explore the hotel but the ground floor looked really grand and had a totally different feel from that of Grand Park Orchard. In case you missed my post, I was lucky enough to be invited for a staycation at Grand Park Orchard last year and I would recommend it to everybody! 🙂

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 005

Soar to the pinnacle of success with prosperous Lunar New Year banquets at Park Palace. Lauded for the finest Cantonese gastronomy, this Oriental paradise beckons with a flourish of evergreen à la carte Lunar New Year cuisines, Set Menus and innovative Lunar New Year offerings created with a twist.

Early Bird Special: Book now and dine in from 21 January to 7 February and enjoy 20% off Lunar New Year Set Menus and a la carte at Park Palace.

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 015

Some of the early blogger birds from my table – Lobster, me, Charleen, Ellena and Derrick.

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 020

We waited patiently for everyone else to arrive before we started with our Lo Hei!

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 038

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone’s new year resolution is to do a Prosperity Toss for a minimum of say, 10 times this Lunar New Year! Yusheng means an increase in abundance so let’s all start tossing away! At Park Hotel Group, almost nothing can be more glamorous and spectacular than tossing Golden Shunde Yu Sheng ($88++) with exquisite gold dust and gold flakes. This is available from 21 January to 24 February.

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 024

A distinctly-prepared delicacy hailing from Shunde – a river town in China’s Guangdong province –
renowned for its freshwater fish and fresh produce, this luxurious gourmet treat uses fresh Yellowtail.

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 041

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 046

I really must applaud the Chefs at Park Hotel Group for coming up with such an ingenious twist to the ordinary Yu Sheng. The base of crispy fried vermicelli is vibrantly adorned with slender slices of ginger, spring onions, crunchy capsicums and finely grounded peanuts; tossed in a special concoction of fragrant peanut oil and premium soya sauce. The Yu Sheng boasts a refreshing twist with none of the cloying sweetness that may overwhelm the palate. You will find yourself reaching for more servings.

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 047

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 049

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 057

Do not miss out on the Imperial Suckling Pig ($238++) which is an absolute crowd pleaser. The whole process of air-drying and roasting the piglet which weighed about 5kg is done in-house so please remember to reserve at least one day in advance.

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 061

The skin of the suckling pig was crisp yet retaining its tenderness underneath. Simply addictive!

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 082

Another must-have during Lunar New Year is fish, which also represents abundance. Please your old folks with the Golden Happiness Crispy Garoupa!

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 078

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 095

Out of all the dishes that we had, I felt that the Prosperity Flambé Pen Cai ($268++ for 6 pax, $428++ for 10 pax) stole the show. It boasts as many as 18 luxuriant ingredients including Sliced Abalone, Sea Cucumber, Whole Conpoy, Prawn Balls, Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork Belly, Duck Web, Soya Chicken, Fatt Choy, Black Mushroom, Lotus Root, Broccoli, Radish, Beancurd Skin, Gingko Nut and Black Fungus with quality stock in a casserole pot. At this point, I really want to shout “Huat ah!”

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 086

Adding a twist to this year’s creation, the Prosperity Flambé Pen Cai is infused with Cognac, and flambéed to bring out the rich flavours and tastes of its ingredients, with a tang of alcohol.

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 090

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 110

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 116

The suckling pig made its appearance once again, this time, it was the Imperial Suckling Pig Oven-baked with Lemongrass which was done really well while maintaining its juiciness and the taste of lemongrass was subtle yet discernible. Very refreshing and easy on the palate!

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 127

The dishes and their presentation keep getting better and all of us were pretty much captivated by the Auspicious Glutinous Rice with Foie Gras and Preserved Meat!

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 136

As sinful as it may be, but I really really really love foie gras. This was done expertly and I really appreciated the exquisite texture of the foie gras. I didn’t manage to finish the glutinous rice though, as it was way too sticky and chewy for me to stomach.

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 146

I almost squealed in excitement when the Steamed Mini Pumpkin Dumplings with Green Bean Paste were being laid before our eyes. Much effort must have being put into kneading these delicate mini pumpkins! We couldn’t bear to eat them but of course we did in the end, after taking countless photographs. These reminded us of the Thai dessert Luk Chup but these were undeniably less sweet and made a perfect light dessert treat for all of us.

CNY @ Grand Park City Hall 150

If you are looking for auspicious epicurean reinventions this Chinese New Year to impress the young and the old in your family, take this opportunity to enjoy 20% off the Lunar New Year Set Menus or A’la Carte when you book now and dine-in from 21st Jan to 7th Feb! There is also Blog Promotion for all my readers! Simply quote “missuschewy” during reservations via email/phone and receive a complimentary bottle of house red wine per table of minimum 10 pax.

Covelli Italian Bistro & Wine Bar: A Touch of Luxury In Every Bite

Covelli

Conveniently located in the heart of Orchard Road, Covelli Italian Bistro & Wine Bar has been serving up rustic Italian favorites with a touch of luxury since October 2011. Chef Dean Ng has put together an innovative menu – simple yet contemporary, with creations filled with such delectable flavors leading you wanting more after each bite. This modern bistro and wine bar combines unrivalled freshness and impeccable plating for every dish. If food presentation does matter a lot to you, you will be impressed over at Covelli!

_MG_5273

Occupying a sprawling 3000 square feet with a total seating capacity of 80, Covelli is great for intimate meals as well as events. The restaurant’s simple white and black themed décor, soft lighting and tables decorated with bright fresh flowers, accompanied by classic love songs really set the atmosphere for a romantic dinner!

_MG_5261

My dinner date <3 <3 <3

_MG_5265

Wine connoisseurs will be heartened to know that Covelli boasts one of the most well-stocked cellars in Singapore, featuring more than 60 different types of wines from Italy, Australia, France and Spain.

_MG_5277

Our dinner took off on a positive note with the Baby Spinach Salad ($16). Served on a bed of baby spinach, the sauteed tiger prawns had a nice pinkish color and was extremely firm in texture. The prawns were dressed in garlic-devon cream which tasted rich and heavenly!

_MG_5282

I really enjoyed the Antipasto Frutti di Mare ($18) although it was slightly on the salty side. A winning combination of seared tataki tuna, cured salmon, crabmeat and avocado topped with avruga caviar and balsamic reduction is definitely something that I would order again on my revisit! There is a myriad of exciting tastes and textures in this one.

_MG_5292

And the “cherry” on top would be the caviar! Can I have more please? 😛

_MG_5294

The husband and I have a habit of posting photos of our food on Instagram! Add us @missuschewy and @misterchewy! 😛

_MG_5297

We were given two pieces of Black Truffle Ravioli ($20) to sample. This makes up to about 20g as told by the waiter. The standard serving would be about 180g. You do the math. The subtle earthy flavor of black truffle is hard to miss as one bites into the al dente ravioli.

_MG_5301

While I found that the brown butter cream sauce a tad heavy, I liked that the ravioli was topped with grated hazelnuts. Two pieces of black truffle ravioli was more than enough for me and I cannot imagine having to finish a standard serving. This is probably best for sharing.

_MG_5311

We were caught by surprise when the Barramundi e Astice ($30) was served. The ‘black stuff’ was actually charcoal lobster, which in my opinion, tasted like fried fish with a slightly chewy texture within. The pan roasted barramundi was very well executed and the sweetness of the flesh was magnified with the addition of Gewurztraminer cream.

_MG_5327

Out of all the dishes, I loved the presentation of the Kurobuta Pork Belly ($28) the most. While the chocolate spiced US pork belly was not the most tender kurobuta pork that I have tried, its unique taste more than made up for it. The porcini mushroom tortelli in hazelnut butter cream and blackberries complemented the pork belly really well and made this dish a very exquisite one.

_MG_5334

_MG_5343

We concluded the dinner with Lychee Champagne Panna Cotta ($10) which was silky smooth. I’m not a particularly huge fan of lychee but the hint of champagne was much appreciated.

_MG_5336

_MG_5355

Please note that the above dishes that we had were served in tasting portions. Despite this, we were really full by the end of the meal because of all dishes we sampled were cream-based! 😛

_MG_5357

Thank you Covelli and Publicist PR for the invitation.
